HASH(0xa35864c8) out of 5 stars Kid's book just ok Sept. 28 2014

Extremely basic versions of Greek myths. Includes a classic picture for each myth. Too many typos and incomplete sentences for my taste especially when trying to educate children. One picture seems to show Narcissus rather than the myth described.

This was a really fun. informative book for my child. He absolutely loved it, and I appreciated the mythological stories being short and sweet (as sweet as some of then can be haha,) My child really enjoyed me reading this to him at bedtime, and actually got him really interested in learning more about other mythologies. Great book!
HASH(0xa35869cc) out of 5 stars Super powers and human emotions June 23 2015

The really interesting thing about the gods and goddesses of the Greek Pantheon is that they were so very, very human. There were straying husbands and angry wives and foolish young people and heart-broken parents. They suffered from greed and jealousy and curiosity and pride. They fell in love with humans and nymphs and each other and sometimes the loves resulted in long, happy marriages and many times they ended in tears and tragedy.

The Greek gods and goddesses never seemed to worry about setting a good example or being "role models" but you could learn a lot by reading (or hearing) their stories and avoiding their mistakes. You didn't have to worry too much about the afterlife, since it was just a brief stay and then onto another life on earth, but with no memory of your previous ones. That's IF your family buried you with a coin to bribe the boatman Charon so that you could cross the River Styx. And if they forgot or wanted to hang onto their money? Too bad.

This is a good overview of Greek mythology. Most older kids would enjoy it and hopefully would be encouraged to read more. Needs editing, but that's a problem with all the books in this series, which is a real shame. It's still readable.
HASH(0xa3586a2c) out of 5 stars Great primer, useful for young student's research Nov. 30 2014

Outstanding read for introducing Mythology to young children. Each page is accompanied by a painting illustrating the tale shared. Each tale is short, one to two pages and is not too wordy for a early reader. Great primer, useful for young student's research, and will make a great addition to a classroom's library.
