I have been a HUGE fan of Jem since i was a little girl and that was 23 years ago. I taped the episodes off tv when they first aired but alas the quality wasnt very good, so i was really excited when i found out that it was coming to DVD (the videos are difficult to locate in themselves) But i was amazed at the somewhat steep price listed to buy these products. I found both Jem season 1 & 2 as well as Jem season 3 at Best buy for considerably less than what this site is offering. So while i respect and HMV.. i would urge poor students like myself to shop around first. Thanks and i hope this helps.

Love the 80's?
Grow up watching the show?
Just curious?
All of the above are excellent reasons to go and buy this 4 DVD set of the first two seasons of Jem! If you're like me and grew up watching this show as a child or a newcomer just curious about all the hype I promise you, you will not be disappointed with this DVD.
Included in this set are the first 26 of the shows 65 episode run. Starting with the beginning/origins of Jem and the Holograms and going right up to Glitter and Gold. You get to see all of the original songs in their glory (I think there's actually an option to play just the songs!!!!) plus massive 80's fashion at its best! There's also all of the original PSA that were featured at the end of shows, plus an interview with Christie Marx, the shows creator, which I found to be incredibly informative. She explains the motivating factors behind the different characters, who some of the characters were based upon, and some of the things she would liked to have done differently. I honestly never realized how many of the decisions that were made for the show were based upon the product marketing for the doll line by Hasbro. There's also an interview with the speaking voice for Jem (the girls name unfortunately slips my mind at the moment something Newark I think...).
So honestly, if you were even slightly considering getting this DVD go ahead and get it, it's as good as I remember as a child, even better. Hopefully Rhino will realize the success of this and how long fans of Jem have waited and will not dilly dally on releasing Seasons 3 and 4 of this "Truly Outrageous!" show!!!!!

I found out about this release wayyy too late, but as soon as I did, I bought it--one of the best decisions of my life. I was only about 1 when this show came out in the 80s. It didn't actually last long enough for me to even have any recollection of it, but somehow the cartoon stuck with me. I had the episodes on vhs, the keyboard that played tapes and turned into a stage for the Jem and the Holograms dolls. I remember having the Cynergi doll and the leg broke off, but I kept it just the same. (By the way, I always thought her name was spelled Synergy but in the DVD box set it refers to her as Cynergi.)
Anyway, enough about my childhood memories. This DVD set comes with 4 DVDs with 26 episodes in total. There's the "Play Songs" option which just plays the songs and its music videos from that particular DVD. There is commentary by the writer Christy Marx (whom I always wanted to write a letter to as an avid fan). There is also an interview with the voice behind Jem. Now, one misconception with this product is that there are two seasons in it. It says it's the complete first and second seasons which isn't actually the case. It's only the first season which is split, calling the first five episodes the first season and the rest the second. I guess the first five establishing episodes can be seen as an introductory season to the rest of the episodes. Whatever, that's not a big deal. What I didn't like was that my DVD box was slightly crushed on one corner, but that's not the company's fault. I'm cheap and choose to have kids kick it to my doorstep than pay the extra 10 cents or whatever it is. But, one thing that is weird about the box (actually two things) is: the shape and the drawings in it. The drawings look like they were drawn by fans from the 80s.

I'm an 18 male and love this show. I love most every show from the '80s: Care Bears, Rainbow Bright, Strawberry Shortcake, "Them Glowing Worms", GI JOE, Turtles, this one about talking koalas, etc... And Jem is number 1!
The story is so moving and involving. I remember sitting down a night after I got it and planning to just watch one episode. But it ended with a total cliff hanger and I just had to watch the second. I just finished the first disc and am scared to start on the second... It's such a good show I don't want it to be over!
The music is great too. I love it! I downloaded all the songs from the entire show on a Jem fansite. I'm disappointed to find out there has never been an album released of their music with full length songs. I'm listening to a CD of the Misfits right! =D
I am going to die if they don't release the rest of the episodes.
The show is appealing to not only children but older people too as the story deals with relationships and love. Today cartoon shows are disgusting, other then anime imported from Japan. Only anime is missing something. Anime is usually too serious or too bizarre, never just right as is Jem.
I pray they relase the rest of Jem and more 80 cartoons. And I used to hope they would re-create these shows. However, after seeing the new Strawberry Shortcake and Turtles, I pray that they don't. After the rest of JEm is released, I wanna see the Little Ponys.
/sigh... I'm already dreading the day I finish this box set. I'm really try to drag it out. But the end of Jem is enevitable seeing there is only 65 episodes. How many episodes of GI JOE and TRansformers are there? I got both those box sets too and they're just terrible. Absolutely boring, absurd and unrealastic.
