Ayden and Jet are young adults (she is early 20’s and he is 25) and both have survived difficult family lives during their early years. Their childhood (and beyond) experiences colour their decision-making.
She is a university student and he the lead singer in a heavy metal band. Their chemistry and sexual tension in the first half of the book was captivating. The second half was a little rough around the edges, but still enjoyable. I felt the obstacles to their happiness were introduced a bit abruptly, and the tension between the couple felt a little forced. I still, however, managed to sympathise with both characters and desperately wanted them to mend their problems.
I love the group of young people who make up the core friendship circle that Ayden and Jet are part of. They have sass, swagger, and wear their tattoos and face metal with pride. They have a great attitude to friendship, a wonderful camaraderie I envy, and know how to have a rockin’ good time. They are all just so hot! When I read these stories, I feel youthful, as if I’m in their shoes. It’s a great escape!
I’m looking forward to reading the next novel in the series, about the returned soldier, Rome (the older brother of Rule, hero of book 1).
