Okay, so I'd been skirting around this book for a while. The summary didn't really tell me enough of what I wanted to know (which makes me crazy) and I've been trying to stick mostly to Kindle Unlimited, but I couldn't help clicking the "buy now" button the second I was finished with the free preview. The prologue blew me away, Drew's first chapter made me roll my eyes a little bit but I promise he's not so insufferable as he makes himself seem at first (all the talk about how great he is at racing made me think he was going to be a self-important narcissist but he isn't). The chemistry between him and Trent is freaking phenomenal.

One thing this book does really well is the dance around the "Am I feeling what I think I'm feeling?" question. There's no heavy-handed soliliquies of guilt or clumsy, over the top "I can't believe I'm crushing on my friend" back-and-forth. Trent's uncertainty and worry over his feelings feels real and painful, and his quiet acceptance of those feelings just makes you want to give him a hug. Trent is kind of like a sad puppy but he has this huge well of emotional resilience that keeps him going and keeps him strong even when he's feeling a little pathetic.

Drew's side of this friends to lovers story is also really well told. So often characters have this "I like girls but now my best friend is leaving and oh my god I'm in love with him" moment of drama, but that's not the case here. You can see his yearning, his tenderness and desire to possess even before he does, but it's done so organically and skillfully. The scene in the gay bar made my heart stop. One little niggle I had though was the scene where Joey basically tells him he's in love with Trent, and he doesn't believe her.

'All I needed was a path. All I needed was a chance. I liked risks. Maybe I was reckless. But with great risk comes great reward. Or at the very least, one heck of an adrenaline rush.'

Holy feels!! Holy angst!! I'm excited to say that I have a new couple to add to my favorites list!! Trent and Drew blindsided me, and stole a piece of my heart in the process. I can't tell you how much I loved this book! #Junkie is Cambria Hebert's first m/m book and she did not disappoint. I have to admit that I've only read the first book in the Hashtag series, but as soon as I heard she wrote an m/m book, I knew I had to read it. I think reading the rest of the Hashtag series would've given me more background on these two characters, BUT, I don't think it hindered my enjoyment or connection to their story. I was hooked from the very first page.

'Love is patient. Love is kind. That's what they say. They say love doesn't take; love only gives. While those words are beautiful, they aren't true. Love does take. Loving someone takes strength. Love takes hard work. And sometimes...Love takes sacrifice.'

This is Trent and Drew's story. Trent is a college student who is on the verge of graduating. He's not sure what he wants to do with his life, but more than anything, he's not sure what to do about his feelings for his best friend Drew. These two share a strong connection that goes beyond friendship. Everyone else around them can see it, but neither Trent, or Drew are willing to admit it. They've both only ever been with woman. Drew is an Indie race car driver. He is the definition of an adrenaline junkie. This book does focus on Drew's career in racing, but the most important part lies in their struggle to admit how they feel about each other.

This book was so great! I was no disappointed. I enjoyed the hashtag series but this one really went above and beyond. It had its own vibe and answered so many questions about Drew and Trent we were left wondering about in the hashtag series.
I loved how this took on its own ideas of same sex relationships and happened so organically. It didn't seem forced or out of place which is so often the case with spin off series'.
Another great one from cambria Hebert. Picked hashtag up on a whim and haven't looked back once.

HASH(0xa24f3e4c) out of 5 stars I'm a #Junkie for Trent and Drew! Jan. 27 2016

Reviewed for I'm A Sweet And Sassy Book Whore

I am going to first off start this review by saying if you have any reservations about reading #Junkie because it is a m/m romance well I am begging you to give it a chance, but if it isn’t something that you can give a chance then please do not be negative to those who have loved this book and supported the decision that Ms. Hebert chose to take with Trent and Drew’s story.

#Junkie is more than a m/m romance. It is a story about a friendship so deep that nothing could tear it apart, it is about family you make not necessarily the one you are born with, it is about trust but more importantly it is about love. This series may by a spin-off of the #Hashtag series, but I don’t see it as a spin-off, I see it as a new chapter that includes all of our favorite characters but centers around a relationship that for the lack of a better description is beautiful and moving. We all want the person we love to be our best friend, so why can’t we fall in love with our best friend, that one person who you can totally be yourself around without the fear of judgment, the one person who has your back during the good times and the bad, the person who would go to battle if it meant protecting you from harm, and that one person whom you share such a deep and strong connection that love is the obvious next step. Don’t look at this is a relationship between two men, look at it as a relationship between two people who love each other, respect each other and understand each other.

I am in love with #Junkie and I am on the edge of my seat wondering what is going to happen next. It does end on a cliffhanger but now before you get your panties in a twist about that, we have been promised the next book will be released soon so we won’t have a huge wait. Trust me this book whore would wait a year if needed because of how much I love this author and this book. #Junkie will not only have your inner need for speed come to the surface it will show you a whole new side of Trent and Drew and the rest of the gang. This needs to be in your TBR list if it isn’t already!

HASH(0xa24f4120) out of 5 stars 5 Huge #Trew Love Stars! Feb. 20 2016

Let me try to sum #Junkie up in a few words. Heartwarming, the "feels", touching... those three things all at once with a side of amazing, heartbreaking, and oh my God, can I have the next book now please. If you can't guess from that last statement. #Junkie by Cambria Hebert is a cliffhanger. However, you won't have to wait long if you want the second book, #Rev, because it will be out in less than a month.

Going into this book, I really wasn't sure what to think. On one hand, I anticipated this book so much that I was scared to start it. On the other hand, I dove right into it face first. I was trying to keep an open mind about it. If you follow my blog, you know I'm a huge fan of Ms. Cambria's Hashtag series... Drew and Trent are part of that. So I have a tremendous of love for them going into the book before it even begins. When it was first announced that it would be M/M I was shocked, for sure. I hadn't ever seen them going that way. I figured they would both get their own book. They are Super Bros, after all. I frankly don't think Cambria could have written this better, or in any different way. I loved these boys before, and I love them so much more now.

This is not an easy story. It's full of so many life changing things for -both- of these characters. They have to change, and adapt. They realize things about themselves and each other. Honestly, I sat here holding my Kindle to my chest at one point just sobbing, because of the feels. This book is honest. It's about love, regardless of who it is with and what form it is in. Our main heroes have hurdles to overcome, and a twist at the end that I didn't see coming.

In this spin-off and new series "GearShark" it's based around a magazine. That is why the covers look like magazine covers. You get to meet some new characters, you get to touch base with old characters that you know and love. You get to see cars that you'll drool over even in text, and you will actually feel the adrenaline right along with the characters. Be prepared to be right on the edge of your seat and not put this book down even once.

Do you need to have read anything prior to #Junkie? Nah, it can be a standalone. Though you really might want to meander back and read the books in the Hashtag series too. I love spin-offs and this one is going on the top of my lists.

A fast-paced 5 adrenaline junkie #Trew love hearts for this one. I absolutely cannot wait for #Rev!!

HASH(0xa24f41bc) out of 5 stars Keep an open mind Jan. 23 2016

I've been staring at this screen for awhile now trying to figure out exactly how to write this review. How to express what this book made me feel. How to put into words every emotion. How to explain the realization that this book, this story, has profoundly changed the way I look at the world. At relationships. At love.

I still haven't figured out quite how to do that but I'm going to try. So bear with me :)

I preordered this book because I loved reading the #hashtag series and any chance at a glimpse back into that world I had to take. Then I discovered that this was going to be a m/m book. I've never read a m/m book. I wasn't sure I was going to like reading about a male male relationship. Not because I have any prejudice against relationships of that type. I've always been indifferent. It hasn't affected my life so I've never really given it much thought. I'm definitely thinking now.

The way Trent struggled with his feeling for Drew. The way he didn't want to risk losing his best friend. The way he lived his life trying to conform to what society tells us is the "right" way to love. Those things all made me realize that there is no "right" love. There is no difference in the way Trent and Drew love compared to Rome and Rim or B and Ivy's love. Everyone fights their feelings. Everyone doesn't want to lose the person they are closest to. Love is love.

There will be no more indifference from me. No judgment. Just acceptance. Everyone deserves to be in a relationship where they are loved. No matter what it looks like. This book has opened my eyes to that. There is enough hate in the world already. Nobody deserves to be hated, or ridiculed, or judged, for loving. Love in whatever form it takes should be celebrated and embraced.

This book made me realize all of these things.

Never judge a book by its cover. I almost didn't read this book. That would have been a colossal mistake. My life is better for having read this book. The world is a better place for having this book in it. Even if just one persons viewpoint on love is changed it will make a difference.

I can't wait for the second book! I'm sure it will be just as great. Just as thought provoking as this one was. Saying I love this book doesn't seem to cover how I feel about this book. It was beyond amazing. 5 stars isn't enough for this book.
