Product Description

Amazon.ca

A not very subtle variation on the buddy picture, this fluff comedy/action story squeaks by on the surprising charm generated by Jim Belushi (About Last Night, Salvador). Belushi plays the typically acerbic loner cop who relentlessly pursues a criminal mastermind while trying to juggle a relationship at home with girlfriend Tracy, played by Mel Harris of television's thirtysomething. The catch is that Belushi is saddled with a partner, an unruly German shepherd named Jerry Lee, and the gruff but lovable cop learns to love the dog of his dreams. The film is predictable from its first moments and survives only on the strength of the loose charm of its lead and the inoffensive performance of its lead canine. --Robert Lane --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

This is a fantastic bargain. There is one disc here, but you get all 3 K-9 films. The first 2 films on side one. The 3rd film of the trilogy on side 2.
James Belushi is perfectly comfortable in his ad-lib role as the cop with the German Shepheard partner. The timing is right on and the action non-stop. Bravo!

K-9 ranks with some of my favorite buddy cop action comedies from the '80s such as Beverly Hills Cop, Stakeout, Running Scared, Red Heat and 48hrs. Although the unique twist with this buddy cop formula is the cop is teamed with a police dog. James Belushi is very good in the role of detective Dooley not too much unlike his cop role in Red Heat but this time Belushi is carrying the film and he does a fine job of it. Dooley is a bit of a slobbish and unrespectable detective in the Sandiego police force who neglects his long suffering girlfriend (Mel Harris) and pisses his superiors due to his obsession with nailing an elusive and prominent socialite (Kevin Tighe) who Dooley suspects is smuggling drugs on the side. After a near attempt on his life by the bad guys Dooley is forced to squash his lone wolf attitude and take a partner. He decides to get around the issue by taking a police dog - a German shepherd named Jerry Lee - who turns out not to be as low maintenance as he thought as the dog is very uncooperative with him at first but and causes jealousy for Dooley as the dog competes for his girlfriends attention and aggravates him by interrupting his sex life, barking all night, leaving doody on his floor and tearing up his car. But these learn to respect and work together during situations like barfights, attempted assassinations and discovering how the villain is smuggling his drugs. Of course there's the obligatory girlfriend gets kidnap for ransom routine where the two cops go outside the law to get her back . Its not Oscar winning stuff here but its enjoyable nonetheless if you like this genre.

What a great buy!!! All 3 of the K-9 movies for the price of one. The first movie is the best, Jerry Lee really has an attitude in that one, but I loved them all. James Belushi is funny in all of the movies. This set is a must for every dog lover.

I'd always loved the original "K-9" movie with James Belushi & Jerry Lee, but until this time, I had not been able to secure my own copy of it! While looking on Amazon.ca, I found this -- not only the first movie "K-9", but the next 2 movies of the set! I'd only ever before seen "K-9" but not the next 2 movies, so I wasn't sure, but I'm happy that I got this set instead of getting just "K-9"! They're all great!!! Considering the fact that I got all 3 movies for the price that I did, I think that I got a really great deal! Thank you very much!!!

Watched K-9 many times as a kid so wanted to get the DVD as I haven't seen it in a long time ... Was just as good as I remember it ... I never knew there was sequels so it was great that it came with K9 #2 and #3 ... I didn't like that it was only one disc and double sided though.

K9 #2 ( K-911 ) ... my opinion is, it was pretty bad ... beyond corny , it was really hard to watch especially since I just watch the first one ... its a joke in comparison .

#3 - K-9:PI was Decent , its more like the first one but not as good but still an alright flick.

I first saw this film in 1990 or something and now I'm 21 and
I still love it!
K-9 is about a cop (Jim Belushi-according to Jim)who has been
after a drug dealer for 2 years and after choosing to get a german shepard named Jerry Lee-a chili eating drug sniffing
dog Dooleys world is flipped upside down!
This movie has made me love those German Shepard doggies and it makes me want to go out and buy one!
I rented the 2nd one and it is good as well-but nothing can
compare to the 1rst one-thats for sure!
That scene when the bad guy shoots Jerry Lee always makes me sad
(how can anyone shoot a dog?)
then the scene when Dooley gets in that fight with the doctor was
good.
EITHER YOU HELP HIM NOW OR HES GONNA DIE
DONT GET SO EXICTED-HES JUST A DOG
HES NOT JUST A DOG-HES A COP-AND HES NOT JUST ANY COP HES MY PARTNER!
YOU KNOW ABOUT MEDICINE-YOU KNOW HOW TO REMOVE A BULLET
HMM?
(SLAMS GUN DOWN ON THE TABLE)
Doctors dont think animals have a right to live when they get
seriously injured-that only humans do?
next you'll be telling us these human beasts have souls!
My favorite scenes were:
Jerry drinking Dooleys iced tea through the straw
the car wash scene
the cupcake scene
and the part when Dooley and Jerry first meet-and Jerry lunges
at him!
Actually every scene was great-but not that scene when poor
Jerry got shot.
