Purchase options and add-ons
First published in 1969, this classic manual of automotive repair equips VW owners with the knowledge to handle every situation they will come across with any air-cooled Volkswagen built through 1978, including Bugs, Karmann Ghias, vans, and campers. With easy-to-understand, fun-to-read information for novice and veteran mechanics alike anecdotal descriptions, and clear language, this book takes the mystery out of diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures, and offers some chuckles along the way. This edition features new information on troubleshooting, new photos, and an updated resource list.

This book is legendary for a reason. It is clearly written for wannabe mechanics at every skill level. The illustrations and writing style are lighthearted and entertaining. The content is invaluable for classic VW owners.
With this book (and the Haines guide), I should be able to keep my 1967 Karmann Ghia running forever!

I bought this book in the early 70s to fix my beetle. I learned to do and LOVE car maintenance because of Mr. Muir. I still do my car maintenance ( no more VW...) to this day, mostly on Jeep. I was thrilled to buy the 19th printing to replace my original wire binder first edition I stupidity gave away with my VW... Happy to read again, wish they still made bugs!
