I bought this machine over a year ago on the advice of several friends who RAVED about the Keurig. I was a bit skeptical about a coffee maker that cost over $100, but finally splurged. Now I recommend them too!

We have two adults in our family, and usually each of us just have one cup of coffee a day. For us this is perfect. I don't like all the plastic waste of the K cups, but for the convenience of it, we use them. We tried using the my k cup filter and didn't like it. I like the wide variety of K cups we can get, have tried many different ones. I've discovered I don't enjoy the flavoured coffees much; while they're tasty, they're weaker in the coffee flavour. I stick with the coffee flavoured coffee. :)

From what I've read, a common problem is the machine brewing short cups. And sure enough, this started happening to us too, about a year after we bought it. We were able to fix it once or twice using advince we found online, but finally (after the warranty was done!) it seemed to be permanently giving short cups, you have to run it twice to get your cup full.

I called Keurig without much hope of it being resolved, since the warranty period had expired. At best I was thinking I'd be able to buy an expensive part instead of buying a whole new machine. They are very professional, walked me through some troubleshooting to try to resolve the issue, and we weren't able to fix it.

But to my surprise, they are sending me a new replacement unit! I didn't expect that at all, but they stand behind their product even after the warranty period is over. I'm EXTREMELY pleased, both with the coffee and the customer service. Great product, great company!

I did a lot of research before purchasing this coffee maker, and although it got a lot of positive reviews there were enough negative ones to worry me, and almost put me off the purchase. The complaints that worried me the most were the following:

1) Reliability issues, product failure.

While I can't speak to long term reliability since I've only had my Keurig for about a month, so far it has worked flawlessly. Set-up was as simple as can be and I was literally brewing my first cup of coffee within minutes of opening the package. I hope it continues to work well since it's not the cheapest coffee maker. It does come with a one year warranty and if you register the machine online you get a gift code for two free boxes of K-cups, which is pretty sweet.

2) Coffee is too weak, doesn't make good coffee.

This complaint probably worried me the most because a) I like strong coffee, and b) I like GOOD coffee. When I experimented with the various K-cups that came with the machine I was initially pretty disappointed and even thought about returning the machine. The coffee was indeed weak (even brewed at the smallest cup size) and didn't exactly blow me away as far as taste went. I then discovered the extra bold K-cups which contain more coffee and deliver a much richer cup of coffee. The Tullys brand was the first to impress me, and when my Starbucks K-cups finally arrived all thoughts of returning the machine evaporated. Don't let the coffee snobs convince you that the Keurig is incapable of brewing good, rich-tasting coffee. Is it possible to brew a superior cup using fresh ground coffee and a French press? Oh course, but I knew this going in. The trade-off is convenience, and at this the Keurig excels.

I bought the Keurig b60 Special Edition Nov. 8 - received it Nov 14 - I read the reviews here on Amazon.ca and saw nothing major to deter me from buying - so I did. When I first set it up - I followed all the instructions, washed the water reservoir, ran 2 full tanks of water only through it(instructions were for one cup) - made a cup of green tea as it was too late in the day for caffeine - it was horrible! The plastic that the machine is made of was giving off a strong plastic smell - which did not really surprise me as it was new but it wouldn't go away. I did an internet search and found that many people have had this problem - some not being able to get rid of it. I tried some of the suggestions others had provided - ended up running a full tank of 50/50 combination of vinegar and water through - then ran 4 or 5 tanks of plain water through - it still smelt of plastic. As the smell was coming from the part where the K-cups go I ended up leaving the machine open when not in use to let the smell evaporate. It took 4 days before I got a decent cup of coffee out of it and it is now fine though I still leave it open (for 2 weeks so far) as it still has a faint plastic odor if I leave it closed. It is definitely going away - but should not have been that way to start with. Other than that I am pretty happy with brewing speed and convenience of the machine - and love the variety of coffee. Just wish we could get the apple cider in Canada - I can not find it on any Canadian sites.

The Keurig Special Ed Brewer is very easy to use and brews an excellent K-cup of coffee! It is programmable so can be set to be ready for early risers, and can also be programmed to shut off at a set time. [However, it cannot brew without someone there to push a button.] The quick start instructions are extremely helpful, get things going immediately with one of the sample coffees included. The brewer can do three different cup sizes -- 6, 8, 10 oz - and with simple creativity other sizes are available. I find that any 'strong' blend works better for me if I use the 8 oz FOLLOWED by the 6 oz, still on the same K-cup. I am very happy with my selection. The coffee is hot and tastes great. Very easy to use this machine and it requires little maintenance.
