I will be the first to admit that ministry is hard! I do not know everything there is to ministry. Actually, I learn new things about ministry every Sunday. Anyone who has been in ministry for a while knows the struggle. It can be very challenging at times due to the different seasons. I’m not referring to spring, summer, fall and winter. I am referring to the season of hard times and it seems like there is no growth. The season that you need a vacation in December but, you know you can’t take one until June. The season where you have people leaving the church. The season where people stop paying there tithes. The season where people don’t want to praise God. The season where people stop showing up to choir rehearsal. Those times can be very stressful. It’s almost like; you are playing on a basketball “team” all by yourself. I have been there. But what I have learned is that you have to understand the seasons of the church. Just because someone left the church does not mean they will come back. Some people have to leave something, to see what they had. I have learned that some people come in to church for different reasons. That’s why I don’t sweat people leaving the church. It wasn’t like they were doing me a favor by being there. If they were coming for me, they were coming for the wrong reasons. I have been doing this for so long, that I get accustomed to the different people who come to church. You have three different types of member: Spectators, team players, and demons. You read the last part right. Some people come to church with demonic forces inside of them that have to be dealt with. They simply come to church to try to distract so that ministry cannot be performed effectively. The best way to extract that spirit out of the church is to pray, and command any spirit that is not of God to flee, in the name of Jesus. Next time you go to church, pay attention to the spirits that walk in. Just don’t let the ungodly spirits effect you from you getting your break through or else, that spirit did what it was created to do.
