Product Description

High school sophomore, Kim Long, is no stranger to the “mean girl” antics of Queen Bee Hannah Marshak. When Hannah steals Kim’s diary and in front of the entire class reads personal (not to mention humiliating) entries Kim wrote about her crush, Jonathan, Kim vows to enact revenge.

Kim and her loyal best friend, Bridget, come up with the perfect plan to put the evil Hannah in her place once and for all. But will their scheming have the desired effect of getting even, or will Hannah emerge more celebrated by her peers than ever?
Kim vs. the Mean Girl can be read as a young adult standalone novel, set in 2000, but is also a prequel to the popular Blogger Girl adult romantic comedy series. Told in the dual perspectives of teenage Kim and Hannah, fans of the series will get an inside look into Kim’s early passion for reading, writing (and Jonathan), and find out why Hannah is so darn mean.

In Blogger Girl we meet the irrepressible Kim Long and her nemesis Hannah Marshak. Kim vs. the Mean Girl takes us back
to high school with Kim and Hannah 101 in this delightful prequel. I gobbled it up in one, I mean bite (this is the era before a cell phone was in every backpack). When Kim declares war on Hannah, it takes some unexpected, and at times amusing, turns, and though the enemies don’t emerge as friends, or even frenemies, they each come away the better for it. A fun read for all ages. — Eileen Goudge, New York Times bestselling author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Meredith Schorr's Debut in the YA Market! May 18 2017

A huge fan of Meredith Schorr's Blogger Girl series (Blogger Girl and Novelista Girl), I was so happy to return to the lives of Kim Long, best friend Bridget, and rival Hannah Marshak in Kim vs the Mean Girl.

The backstory behind Kim and Hannah's rivalry was engaging to read and the teenage voices of these characters were captured beautifully on the page. I think a big strength of this book is the three-dimensionality of mean girl Hannah. As I was learning more about her and what makes her tick, I found myself feeling bad for her, too. I think this is an important feature of the book and something that added a great deal of value to the storytelling.

Of course, there were plenty of places that made me laugh out loud while also feeling bad for Kim - one example that comes to mind was when Hannah was giving a report about Napoleon Bonaparte. Without giving anything away, it was exchanges like that one that gave the reading a truly lifelike feel that reminded me of my high school days.

I've read five of Meredith's six books and I can't decide which one is my favorite - I love them all. But this book, Meredith's debut into the contemporary young adult market is really exciting because I know she's about to crack open a huge base of new readers and I'm so happy for those readers because they have so many more of Meredith's books available to them to read and love.

NOTE: Kim vs. the Mean Girl is a standalone book. You do not have to read the Blogger Girl series to understand what is happening. That said, after you read Kim vs. the Mean Girl, do read the Blogger Girl series. (And then move on to the other books.) You're in for some great reading!
5.0 out of 5 stars Love. This. Book! May 18 2017

I am a huge fan of the Blogger Girl series and was beside myself when I heard about the prequel. I was immediately drawn in by Ms. Schorr's signature style -- humor, romance and just the right amount of drama. I found her seamless transition from Chick Lit to Young Adult quite impressive as not all authors have such versatility. Nicely done! I had my nose stuck in this book every chance I had, devouring Hannah's dastardly deeds and Kim's responses. Visiting with these characters in the throes of adolescence was more fun than I've had in a long time.

And the best news? Kim vs. the Mean Girl can absolutely be read as a standalone novel. Although, be forewarned -- once you read this book, there is no way you won't want to read Ms. Schorr's Blogger Girl series.
5.0 out of 5 stars Another Hit from Meredith Schorr! April 21 2017

I absolutely love the BLOGGER GIRL series and was so excited to read the YA prequel. I can't get enough of Kim and Hannah. Meredith Schorr has an incredible ability to write hilarious, relatable stories with so much depth and charm. Reading about the teenage antics of the characters I have grown to love was such a fun, insightful, delicious escape.

Even if you haven't read the BLOGGER GIRL series, KIM VS THE MEAN GIRL can be read as a stand alone. But I think anyone who reads it will want to devour every book Schorr has written.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic prequel! April 20 2017

I will read anything Meredith Schorr writes! I don't usually like the YA genre, but this was impossible to put down. I read it over 2 days, and when I wasn't reading, I was wishing I was! The mean girl was written so well, it made me twitchy, reminding me high school - yet, she did something different - Schorr gave this mean girl some heart too. You understood her better, understood her motives. Great prequel and another fab book from Meredith Schorr!
5.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed reading Kim vs May 1 2017

I enjoyed reading Kim vs. the Mean Girl so much--I literally didn't want to stop turning the pages on my Kindle--I read it in two sittings. Getting to know the backstory of the characters from Meredith's Blogger Girl series was really fun--more fun than I expected! The diary plot kept me completely engaged as did all the pop culture references. And with Meredith's excellent portrayal I found myself sort of liking the mean girl...that was a surprise, now I need to go reread all the adult books in this series. I didn't want the book to end; I hope we'll see more of these characters!
