OASIS comes with a leather cover you can fold and put on a table or hold with one hand; the cover has rechargeable features on which the kindle sits which results in having to charge the kindle much less; also integrated in the kindle 10 led lighting rather than having the light on the cover( my old one which gave an uneven read the last sentences were darker because the light was on the right at the top of the cover.)As soon as I opened the case and put in my wifi address my name appeared, my library, and so much more features than the previous one were available. Very easy to open. We are a group of friends with kindles and this one is by far the best.
I am deducting a star for the price, and I am deducting another star because Canadians are only being offered the black colored model, not the Merlot or walnut. I believe that all options for covers should be offered to everyone, not just to people who live in certain countries.
Also, the battery life is much worse than my old paperwhite. After all the claims for better battery life, I do not get what's going on there. I'm way past the return window. :( I kept thinking I'd get used to the oasis, or figure out why it was so erratic, but now I'm just done...
How many hours are you going to hold this in your hand? It's almost ridiculously lightweight; even with the case. It is comfortable to hold. Very easy to read. The controls are intuitive. And the price difference is what ... dinner for two at a run-of-the-mill steak house?
Cook pasta that night and enjoy this Kindle for many, many hours.
