I posted several pictures to show you the full variety in this set. I do think that the 30 set is better than the 24 because you get colors that matter. The additional Indigo alone is a color that is worth the few extra bucks to have--because you would be hard press to be able to mix it otherwise.
The lightfastness on this set is unknown, but I've had that color chart hanging on my wall for awhile now, and it hasn't faded too bad (half the reason it's hung up is to test lightfastness.) I'm surprised at how vivid the colors have stayed! That said, keep any artwork sealed away in the dark to protect it from fading as you would with any watercolors.
Very nice, fun to play around with, works well with watercolors & watercolor pencils, long water barrel, has a cap holder, water barrel has its own little black cap to prevent spills, brush screws on counterclockwise, water regulator works properly, transparent barrel & clear case around regulator allows for you to know when to refill and see in case there are any problems with leakage, bristles do get stained but stay at a fine point, can cover small & large areas, soft push for water to flow - easy to clean bristles & switch colors, small & compact - perfect for travelling artists or even at home/in the studio.
I'll probably only use it with watercolors so it doesn't get clogged with other media.
The painting was done in my sketchbook using cheap watercolors (paper will wrinkle if not suited for media)
Best of all, the kit doesn't weigh a lot and I've found it very easy to travel with. It's sized like a small pad of watercolour paper or like a Moleskine book, so they stack nicely and neatly in a purse, backpack or suitcase.
-Case is sturdy, design is functional, simple to understand, and it's easy to hold.
-(Made a color swatch to test the paints on Canson watercolor paper) All colors are vibrate, blend smoothly. A little goes a long way.
-The water brush is comfortable to hold, no leaks and I never felt like it released to much water onto the colors or paper during use. Though I will probably be looking for a set of mini brushes which will store nicely in the brush well inside the kit, because I have more experience painting with normal brushes.
-Fold in finger ring on back of case is perfect! I have neuropathy in my hands which causes pain and a slightly tremor, the shape and ring of the case make it incredibly easy for me to paint painlessly and for longer periods of time over holding other palettes I've used in the past.
-The features of this kit and the amount of colors provided is well worth the cost.
I'm a big Canson paper fan, and I used both Watercolor and Mixed Media paper to test these paints.
I will recommend this to everyone and I will definitely be purchasing the bigger set in the future!
