Product Description

Amazon.ca Product Description

This 1-Inch coarse thread, 2 square drive washer head screw works well in 1/2-Inch thick, so Feeter material. The washer head of this screw is our most popular head style as the wide bearing surface of the head will not overdrive in the bottom of the pocket. This is especially important in so Feeter material such as plywoods and composites. The screw also features a type 17 auger tip that self-taps its' own hole, eliminating the need to predrill in even the hardest materials. Kreg screws also have larger diameter steel shanks than many other screws on the market today making for an impressively strong screw that is almost impossible to break. Our screws have a bronze colored finish and a dry-lubricant coating that eases driving torque and provides greater rust resistance. For maximum rust resistance, look to our Sun-Seal coated weather resistant screws.

I have been making boxes out of 7/16 and 1/2 plywood and they work great. Tried the ones without the washer heads and the would go through the other board or not get tight . I bought 500 of the 1" #8 with washer heads and they work great, have a lot of boxes to build

By BG - Published on Amazon.com
I purchased the Kreg J4 kit and it came with sample screws. Not enough to make any kind of wood projects. I had an idea for a screen entry door for my house and I used 1/2 inch wood. So I needed 1 inch screws according to Kreg. I looked on Amazon and got this box of 500 1 inch washer head coarse thread screws. I made my screen entry door and these are the right size for the project. I plan to use 1/2 inch wood for most of my wood projects so now I have plenty of screws.

These are great for small projects using 1/2in MDF. The price is a little higher than most comparable hardware at the big box stores. Quality is very consistent, no burrs or missing heads. Remember to always use wood glue before joining your pieces. If you are using MDF, add a drop to your pilot hole before driving the screw through for an even stronger bond. With solids a line of glue along the edge is all you need.
