The ASUS PG42UQ (uses an LG C2 OLED panel) has the same screen height, same matte coating, matching borders and both share the same resolution scale on mac. Moving windows between screens feels exactly the same size and dpi:
- The LGs are set to 1440p at 2x dpi, both connected with the 1m+ provided usb-c cables. One of them powers my Macbook by USB-C (96W). The DualUp also acts as KVM so when I switch to the PC input my logitech unifying dongle and usb headset auto switches computers.
- The ASUS is set to 1440p at 1.5x dpi (Mac OS renders it to 5K then scales it down by half so it looks sharp on 4K).
- I combined all monitors in Mac OS midi to create a multi-output sound device, sounds amazing for general purpose.
- LGs color temperature adjust with the OS night time settings, automatic brightness works well, and colors look great out of the box.
*My computers:
- Macbook Pro 14 (M1 Max)
- Windows PC (3080Ti)

This monitor has a high DPI, so the image is very clear; if your eyesight is below average you may need to increase the zoom level in Windows Display Properties or change the font size/zoom level in the various applications.
Brightness and contrast are both excellent.
I have no idea how gaming would look. Movies play very well.
The stand is well built, and with the tension adjustment you can set it to hold the monitor exactly where you move it. (The tension was pre-set correctly in my case.)
The problem with the stand is that you cannot move the monitor down close to the desk. LG support claimed that I could move the monitor down to 1" above the desk, but this is not true. I have the monitor set with a sight tilt, so that the monitor is perpendicular to my eyes. And the lowest I can set the monitor is 2.5" above the desk. Since the monitor is so tall, and also sits 2.5" above the desk, I need to look up quite often. This is a stupid design. They should have designed the main support bar for the arm to be 2.5" shorter, so that the minimum and maximum heights were lower; this would make the monitor much more comfortable to use. I will need to either:
- Buy a new arm; they are about 60 CAD for an arm to support one monitor or 120 CAD to support two. Or
- Cut a hole in the desk and add a piece of wood below the desk that can be the mount point for the clamp of the arm, so that the monitor will be lowered down to slightly above the desk.
Other than the arm not allowing the monitor to move down to the top of the desk, this is an excellent product. Budget an extra 60 CAD to buy an arm/stand with a better range of vertical motion.
Let's talk about the clamp stand first. It's extremely solid, and extremely limiting. My desk is 23.5" deep, so the stand has to be clamped to the left or right. Otherwise, the monitor will be right up in my face, because the arm doesn't fold back onto itself. This means that it only fits in one specific spot on my desk, and I had to reconfigure everything else around it. A monitor like this needs a stand that provides far more flexibility.
The display is really impressive--it's just so different having a 16:18 ratio. But I quickly realized that this is a problem, because it's hard to find the "sweet spot". If you position it for the centre to be in your line of sight, the top and bottom of the display are at angles that are difficult to see. Move it up or down, and you just make one end better and the other worse.
I envisioned this being useful for writing and coding, because instead of scrolling up and down I can see EVERYTHING. But in practice, that's just not the case. Instead of scrolling, I'm constantly moving my neck up and down. Turns out that scrolling isn't so bad.
I tried turning the monitor sideways, and that's when I discovered there's no orientation sensor. This means that you have to manually change the display in Windows (or using LG's software). It also means that to use the onscreen controls, you have to turn your head 90 degrees. That is beyond stupid.
And it's too bad, because I really liked the 18:16 orientation. It feels much more natural and logical, like the 4:3 monitors of olden days.
Oh yeah, the auto brightness was turned off by default, and that's probably because it doesn't work. As soon as I toggled it on, the monitor kicked into an eye-searing 100% brightness and stayed there. It only dimmed when I covered the brightness sensor, which they've idiotically put right in the centre where people tend to like mounting their webcams.
Let's talk about the ability to connect two different computers and share USB devices. It works...just not very well. When you swap between computers, the USBs change over effortlessly. The issue is that there's no quick shortcut to do any of this, so you have to press the little control button on the monitor, toggle it left, toggle up or down to choose an input, and then press it again. Again, this is harder to do when the monitor is sideways. All that LG needed to do was set up a hotkey for their Onscreen Controls software, but they can't be bothered.
Speaking of the software, the ability to set up different zones and snap windows to them would be great if it didn't force you to always use those zones. As it is, you're better off using Microsoft's free Fancyzones Powertoy.
Finally, there's the "show two different computers at once" party trick, which is almost totally useless. It just splits into two small monitors, and I'm staring at the space right where they meet. I can control one computer, but I can't control the other unless I go into the onscreen menu and tell it to move the USB devices. It is not at all worth the trouble.
So, now I'm just disappointed that I tried the DualUp. Sure, it's easy enough to send back to Amazon, but if I hadn't tried it then I could have just kept dreaming about what a great idea it is. Instead, I'm writing this review and wishing that someone would make a 27" 4:3 monitor.

intially it is tricky for me weather to use this as a single big tabloid or to split mode but after couple of days use i figure it out the best of both worlds - i will tell you how i configured it may look stupid but it solved my purpose
from my laptop using usb c as chanrging and monitor input as my first source
again my laptop hdmi connection as secound source and make your configuration 2k and scaling at 225(default ) and make sure you configure as extend the screen and windows display configuration as first input source screen as bottom display and second source to use the top of screen
now it work like 2 monitons stacked up one above another but now it allows to scale you application as well so even your pbp setting is in split mode the bottom part of the display use usbc and top part will use hdmi the kvm will allow to move from top to bottom without any issues and based on your work need you can either switch between screens or scale up the application as one screen without changing pbp setting
To my surprise the inbuilt speakers are decent for casual use and it is very clear and able to Teams calling without headset
this monitor have waves maxx audio support ( dont expect pro sound ) it is good for youtube and news watching and melody music (At 2am with vidyasagar music online with hot coffee it eases workload)
Verdict
At this price you may get 4k monitor however if you are on to productivity and space constraint on dual monitor setup then you can go for this but dont pick this one for gaming and this is not a gaming monitor
Also with the configuration setup you can watch youtube shorts in full screen that is cool and it is better than watching the shorts in 4k tv
