If you don't have any other options for hooking your TV up to the internet, the Smart TV functionality might be worth it for you, but otherwise I would recommend saving some money and just getting the regular LG 47 inch TV.
* - For reference, I don't have any other smart TVs to compare this to so I can't tell if you if other TVs are better in this department or if this is a problem that plagues all smart TVs.

First of all, I want to point out that this TV does NOT come with the highly touted Magic Remote. It comes with a big ol' regular remote that is a PAIN to use. If you get this TV and have a Smart phone, do yourself a favour and download the LG remote app... it's not perfect, but it's way better than the standard remote; if you don't have a Smart phone, or don't want to use it, simply plug in a USB mouse or USB wireless mouse to control the cursor (although you will still need the remote to get the Smart TV home screen).
The WiFi was able to connect, but if you have your router on the opposite side of the house, you may experience problems with streaming. My laptop seems to be better at grabbing WiFi the signal from across the house than this TV.
My wife and I intended to use this TV basically as a giant monitor for online content. We cut the cable long ago and have been watching tv online for a few years now. The marketing for this Smart TV made it seem like we could continue to do the same without having to hook up a TV, at least with wires. First of all, we tried Netflix. That worked fine. Then we tried the YouTube app. It looked very slick, but the interface was very clumsy. Picture quality was very nice on YouTube, but very pixelated on Netflix. (Maybe have to check out the settings to stream NF in HD?Read more ›
When I wrote Amazon to inquire about my missing remote I was told to contact LG
LG gets back to me and tells me it is not included.
According to Amazon the Magic Remote is not included with this TV. The 2 little asterisk' somewhere around the write up on the remote is how I was to know that. This is what I was told today. Not overly pleased.
Lesson learned, and I now know why when I wish to purchase anything other than books, I will be going to a store.
However, I am pleased with the TV

Had this for a few years now, runs fantastic and it's made me a huge LG fan. Smart Tv element is great, but a third party item (like a Chromecast) could replace that function.Published 10 days ago by Z Pope
