The Last of Us is a third-person Survival-Action game and PlayStation 3 exclusive featuring a unique character action driven storyline focused on the unlikely pairing of a young girl and a hardened scavenger in a post-apocalyptic gameworld. The game utilizes multiple gameplay mechanics, including "Dynamic Stealth," allowing differing possible strategies and techniques in conflicts, resulting in different possible outcomes. Additional game features include AI that adapts to choices and situations, a variety of enemies, a live inventory system, and beautiful graphics.
20 years after a pandemic has radically changed known civilization, infected humans run wild and survivors are killing each other for food, weapons - whatever they can get their hands on. Joel, a violent survivor, is hired to smuggle a 14 year-old girl, Ellie, out of an oppressive military quarantine zone, but what starts as a small job soon transforms into a brutal journey across the U.S.
The Last of Us is a third-person Survival-Action game that utilizes choices in gameplay action to develop the game storyline, as well as the relationship between the two main characters, Joel and Ellie. The game features a combination of combat, exploration, stealth and platforming game mechanics. Although Joel and Ellie are both residents of a post-apocalyptic world, they have had different experiences that affect the way they see the world around them, and feel about what they see and do. Joel had a life before the pandemic, while the world of the pandemic is all that Ellie has ever known. As part of Joel's job to smuggle Ellie out of the quarantine zone, players have to make choices in how they deal with enemies, which include, roving gangs of human scavengers not unlike themselves, military elements and infected civilians. Player also have opportunity to together interact with elements of the world around them, which helps to build the bond between Joel and Ellie. Resources in the game are scarce, making overwhelming use of firepower unlikely and unwise in conflicts, and resource gathering missions. In addition, most other residents of the ruined world that are encountered are just trying to survive - blurring the line between good guys and bad guys. Finally, game AI react differently depending on the specifics of the player's actions, making choice in gameplay a major consideration.

The graphics themselves make Uncharted 3 look like it was made for Playstation 1! The detail, depth and colour of everything in the scene is simply breathtaking.
I've started the game on easy level since I'm really not very good at video games (youngsters can LOL at me if they like). It is hard enough to present some tricky challenges while being able to take in the game without too many frustrations. Here's a game that I look forward to re-starting on a harder level: that never happens for me.
The Last of Us deserves the attention it has got. The story is cohesive, and the action believable, considering the nature of the game. But those graphics - they're worth the price of admission on their own! They more than make up for any minor shortfalls to bring the game out as a 5/5 for me.
Although The Last of Us isn't an epic adventure game on a large scale - the gameplay fails to disappoint. The Last of Us' core mechanics run purely based off of FULL creativity, with the brilliant minds who came up with them working at my personal all time favorite game studio: Naughty Dog.
With the awesome story telling down by, Neil Druckmann (creative director), and the guide made by, Bruce Straley (Lead Game Director); The Last of Us is easily one of the best games in the world.
On top of that, the Multiplayer was one that has stuck with me for many years and will only stick with me for the next years to come. The Last of Us' multiplayer is just brilliantly unique. There aren't levels of sophistication, with only three game modes, awesome graphics, and amazing gameplay - The Last of Us' Multiplayer can become your favorite as well!
I hoped you enjoyed my review! ;)
Characters are believable and empathetic. This is the first game that I have played that really beats the uncanny valley without relying on stylized characters (e.g. Bioshock Infinite) and the facial animation is truly engaging. The story is gripping with its twists and turns so avoid spoilers at all costs. The scenery is so stunning you often just want to stop and look – letting it all sink in. You end up really feeling for the characters who are certainly not one dimensional, The game play is fluid and dynamic. I would have enjoyed a little more interactive dialogue between Ellie and Joel – the cut scenes are great at moving the story along though. The NPC AI is very good if occasionally a bit too predictable and some aspects, such as the dialog between NPCs in response to your actions, really deepen the immersive experience. Also this is one of those games where you feel truly human, and vulnerable, to the end.
