This book wasn't written as cover-all guide to guns, ammo, hunting, and target shooting. Instead, it's a collection of questions people had submitted that Simpson responded to in magazines over numerous years. This isn't a bad thing. It's just that it's hit-and-miss whether things you are interested are actually addressed in the book. Also, the content is not organized in any sort of predictable fashion. There are six sections: rifles, shotguns, handgun, ammo, reloading, and optics. But within each section, the information is just thrown together. One question may be about stock length. the next might be about whether to choose a 7mm or 30-06. The next might be about what gun to take on an African safari. Then some question about reading serial numbers. And there is no index. If you're just browsing through for leisure reading, that's fine, but if you are seeking specific information, you might have to skim through 100 other "rifle" questions before you find what you want.
Another issue that may be relevant to some. This book was published in 2005. ARs weren't as popular at the time, and there is little, if any, information about these rifles.
