As coding book it serves it purpose.

Blackberry also has a growing library available for free to developpers that can get you to roughly the same point as this book.

Good read for those of you that prefer a book to learn as opposed to learning on screen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly effective and well-written book June 10 2014
By Michael Dwyer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I've never before seen a book that so quickly demystified a programming topic as this on does. If you have held off developing native/Cascades BB10 apps because you felt overwhelmed by learning Qt, wait longer!

You can honestly begin cranking out a good app after a few hours of reading this book. There are many niches left to be filled in BlackBerry World and this book has allowed me to start doing so!

This book give you the possibility to learn how to develop applications for BlackBerry 10 platform from scratch. You will learn how to install SDK, create Hello World application and then step by step it will introduce you more advanced information about development. It's well written so 5 five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Development Environment Today May 26 2014
By Wyzard - Published on Amazon.com

Background: I have web development experience and a know a little C++

As I read this book, I'm dumbfounded with how simple BlackBerry has made it to create beautiful, native apps for BB 10.

The first chapter has a section on C++/Qt that is not suited for beginners, but don't let that scare you. It is there to show you how awesome QML is (introduced in chapter 2). With QML, a JavaScript-inspired layout and programming language, you will be creating beautiful apps in 1 hour or less.

No joke, you can learn to create native BlackBerry 10 apps in about 1 hour or less. Take that Android/iPhone/Windows Phone!
