Paul Solarz inspires teachers new and not so new to think beyond the book and work to inspire our students by empowering them with the skills they need to excel in the 21st Century. This us a great summer read and will leave you filled with ideas and inspiration for the upcoming year. Keep it in reach, as there are so many excellent suggestions here one read through will not be enough. Thanks Paul. I love the links included to expand our thinking beyond the book. " tell me more"

This book is like getting a personalized tutorial from a master teacher! Paul's generosity in sharing his passion, resources and expertise will change how I teach on Monday. The strategies empower both students and teachers. The plethora of practical techniques are linked to additional resources throughout the book. Paul is a practising, award-winning educator that freely shares everything he does. The voices of his students and their parents provide authentic testimony of the exemplary teaching Paul provides. He truly understands what teaching should be! This book should become required reading for every educator!

Paul takes the reader on a journey into his classroom where learning is key; not simple task-completion, but focusing on genuine student learning. His explanations and examples of Project Based Learning, 21st Century skills and passion projects (I call it geniushour) are easy to access but leads to good (deep) thinking....and even more importantly steers focus onto the value of reflecting on why 'we' teach the way we do. Excellent book to build 'Piratey' skills with in your classroom!
