Product Description

About the Author

Melissa Haynes created and orchestrated successful national campaigns for major corporate players, opened and ran a prosperous business in Mexico. Her project management experience landed her a handful of lucrative Olympic contracts for the 2012 Winter Olympics. She ghostwrote a column about entertaining in the Vancouver Courier for years and a chapter in the award-winning chef's cookbook Inside the Recipe Box. She is a self-admitted chronic adventure junkie and travel addict. She is passionate about animals, adventure, conservation and scribbling. But her greatest accomplishment and adventure to date was volunteering in Africa and living to write about it.

This woman Melissa Haynes is a fabulous writer. I am in total bliss and awe with her amazing writing style. I loved being apart of her journey in Africa - I truly felt like I was right there with her. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to pursue their dreams and get out of their comfort zone. Read this book! A++++++++!

I really liked this book. It wasn't at all what I thought it would be about, lol, but I really enjoyed it. Having been to Cape Town and Jo'berg, I was able to relive a bit of the best holiday I have ever had and it made me want to go back and do the same as the author did. Good for you Melissa!

Learning to Play With a Lion's Testicles: Unexpected Gifts From the Animals of AfricaThis is a well written and enjoyable book that let's one experience the beauty and adventure of South Africa while offering insight into one of life's great challenges ( coping with the loss of a loved one). Beyond the playful encounters and antics of the author and her animal hosts (both two and four legged) is a story that allows you to read from cover to cover without desiring a break. The important message of conservation and the benefits of volunteering; as well as the joy to be found from interacting with nature are a wonderful foundation for a book that can be enjoyed by all ages.

I have read an advanced copy and it is excellent! A moving story of coming to terms with guilt over her mother's death and what animals can teach you about life and death. It is paralleled with the adventures of volunteering on a wildlife reserve in Africa. Highly recommend.
