Two worlds collide in an all-new adventure set in the world of Super NES classic The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. In this newly spun tale, Link transforms into a living painting to cross into a dark, parallel dimension mirroring Hyrule. Conquer the puzzles, traps, and hidden rooms of deadly dungeons to save both worlds from certain doom!
Brought to life in 3D, this beloved, top-down world is the perfect backdrop for a sweeping new tale. Dungeons sink deep below the screen as Link and his attacks pop out, highlighting the nonstop action. The pace is faster than ever, especially since you can swap items on the Nintendo 3DS touch screen. Shoot an arrow, toss a boomerang, bomb a wall, then merge into a painting to slide between two worlds — all in a matter of seconds. With gameplay, visuals, and controls this smooth and consistent, no Zelda adventure has ever been so action-packed.

- Become a living painting to slide within walls and between two dimensions at war

So, let me tell you, that this game (so far, as I am still not done), has made me very happy. Of all things, one of the things that has made me happiest about the game is it acts and feels like the original, including the fact that they are doing the "from the sky" view, as opposed to "from behind" like the newer games do. This gives it this wonderfully nostalgic feel to it, and I absolutely loved it.
The story itself is just as interesting as the first, the graphics, are bang on to what I want, a nice combination of great graphics from our current technology, and old style from the original.
If you have any one who loves the Legend of Zelda series, this is an absolute must, and even if you aren't a fan of the series, but love Link to the Past, this is an absolute must.
Should you buy? yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
If you were ever a fan of the older titles then this will be a real treat for you. However, because it's much like the older titles like SNES,etc. You can easily beat this game in about 8-10 hours? Depending on if you're going for a complete 100% playthrough of the game (Be warned one Heart Fragment is won through a very annoying minigame).
That one minigame is one of my few gripes with this game. Look up Ocotoball for this game and you'll see what I mean.
There is Hero Mode that lets you play the game again where enemies do several times more damage while also unlocking some hidden plot devices. There's also a sub-mission where you rescue transdimensional squid babies...I'm serious....to get the item upgrades and possibly the most OP thing ever once you rescue all 100.
A must have for all LoZ fans.
So you have a game that is very much a blast from the past, but the puzzles are new, there are new game mechanics and things are still very interesting. The wall walking mechanic was made for a few interesting puzzles. Not the longest game, but it was definitely fun I'm sure I will return at some point and have another run through.
The game itself was one of the more challenging puzzle Zelda games, but easier on the actual combat side. An excellent game with great reply value. Highly recommend!
I just beat the game last night and let me say that it should win Game of the Year. I play a lot of games and this is one of the most polished and satisfying adventure experiences I've ever had the privelage to play. The graphics are crisp and I actually had the 3D effect on during the entire 15ish hours, which is very rare since most games don't have such a well incorporated 3D effect - it enhanced the experience immensely. Link's picture ability is far from "gimicky" and serves as a wonderful gameplay factor both in exploring and dungeon puzzle-solving. The music is as awesome as you can get in a Zelda game, very fun mini games abound and there are collectibles/achievements to satisfy even the most OCD gamer. And to top it all off you unlock "Hero Mode," which is equivalent to the master quest mode of Ocarina of Time.
No questions or hesitations here folks: just buy it, play it and love it.
Thanks and happy gaming,
