BY FAR one of my favorite movies! I didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did since it's aimed for kids, but it was awesome! The amount of detailing in this movie is phenomenal! Definitely recommend! The price for it is great too considering it is a bluray

VIDEO (2D):

The LEGO Movie arrives on blu-ray with MPEG-4 AVC 1080p 2.40:1 encode. Primary colours are bold and vivid. Blacks are deep and inky. Contrast is consistently filmic and strong. Details are exceptional, like the chips along the edges of the plastic characters, the fingerprints when the light hits Benny or Lord Business just right, the wear and tear of a fading decal and the imperfections of a brick. Edges are clean and natural. To watch this video filling up my entire 12 foot wide screen (using anamorphic lens) is a sight to behold. This is simply a perfect picture. (5/5)

AUDIO:

Matching The LEGO Movie's video presentation high-point for high-point is Warner's wonderfully enveloping DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround track. It is truly dynamic and surround channels are aggressive. Low-end output is big and boisterous, throwing weight and power behind every blast, explosion, crash and collision. Directionality is precise and involving, pans are smooth, and dynamics never falter. Dialogue is clear. The music is masterfully prioritized. If you have children, be warned that the song Everything Is Awesome in this movie has a similar hypnotic effect on children, like Let It Go from Frozen. This is a very immersive soundtrack. My only minor complaint is that it should have been 7.1 instead of 5.1. (5/5)

MOVIE:

Writer-directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller brought their magic touch from Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs (2009) and 21 Jump Street (2012) to The LEGO Movie, sharing a common theme of earnestly embracing material while poking fun at inherent commercial requirements. The LEGO Movie is an absolute joy, with endless verbal and visual gags. The LEGO Movie is impossibly creative on all levels.

I went to see this with my kids and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Very well thought out and made.

It's a real shame this film will be released with a UltraViolet copy and not iTunes. It really should be the customers choice which digital format they prefer. For this reason I won't be purchasing anything that only comes with UV as a digital format download only option. I normally like purchasing the combo packs as I have ios devices for my entire family, appletv, bluray players and a DVD player in my vehicles.

Oh man I cannot tell you how much we all LOVED this movie so so so much. Dare I say it? EVERYTHING IS AWESOME. Great film, wonderful writing. The casting is such a treat. The extras are fun. Sure sure, it's a 90 minute LEGO commercial. And I didn't care.

For what it's worth, the film could have stood on its own w/o the standard-issue "return of the father" stuff but it's not horrible... just kinda standard Hollywood add-in to validate the wondrous beauty of the first 89 minutes. We didn't have to have the kid and father stuff. But hey, it's ok. I"m not cold-hearted, it's just that the sequence isn't necessary.

I purchased this Lego Movie because my husband and I took our grandsons to see it at the theatre and they loved it. I thought it would be a good movie to have at our house when they spent the night. Since there are two copies, I knew one copy would be probably end up with one grandson. I was wrong, both copies are gone, one to each home! Apparently all of the grandchildren and their parents love it! I was told to buy another copy for our home as I would not be getting the originals back! That is the best review I can give. Now I am off to order another copy! Enjoy it really is great!!!,

Despite the obvious advertisement, the pervasiveness Lego has had in so many lives (either presently as a child or in memories of adults) made this a highly enjoyable film. An storyline grounded in the "fun" associated with Lego building and imagining new projects was well tempered by comedic flourishes and action. The final "twist" to me was brilliant and I applaud the imagination of the creative team behind this film.

The Blu Ray copy brought out the graphics and sound in a truly enjoyable fashion

My son has watched it EVERY DAY since it arrived (right on time). It isn't just a movie that entertains him; he has been inspired. He has been making his very own Lego movie shorts on his Leapster, and his Lego creativity knows no bounds. I don't even mind having "Everything is Awesome" stuck in my head. The bonus features are so enjoyable, he watches them almost as much as he watched the movie. I recommend buying this movie, if there is even the remotest chance that you might EVER know a child.

While I am all for the quality of Blu Ray the item said it was the Blu Ray/DVD/Ultra violet. However, I was just only sent the Blu Ray copy so be warned.

UPDATE: JAn 3: Just opened this last night to watch with my son and there was a DVD and Ultraviolet copy (as well as the bluray).

The cover was misleading as it just says Blu Ray but you do get multi-format! Rated 4 for misleading cover (would have been a 5 otherwise)
