1. ) "We open to allow the flame of inspiration to find us and give us new awareness..." (page 58)

Inspiration is an ideal and an idea. We may be looking for inspiration somewhere out there in nature, but the Lesson of Nature is that inspiration is also out there looking for us. Inspiration is the flame, the flash, the spot light, but our wisdom is innate, already present within us; once the light turns on, we see all. Look to the Lessons of Nature for inspiration.

2.) "When I empty myself of the thoughts that clutter up my mind, I become..." (page 19)

The Lessons of Nature include the wisdom that our mind is not the same as our thoughts. A vase is still a vase, regardless if it has flowers, or not. First figure out how simplicity, gratitude, and contentment make our minds ample and as ready to receive thoughts as a perfectly formed vase can - but is not compelled to- receive a flower arrangement. Read the Lessons of Nature to know that if we are worried about our seemingly empty lives, worry no longer. Flowers are optional. You are already a very fine vase. :-)

I am an ordained interfaith interspiritual Reverend, with a ministry to people in recovery of health and sobriety, to the work of peace, and to the comfort of those who face grief. Kathy Roy's Lessons of Nature became an important text to me as I have learned to hear her as she writes with conscious inner self knowing (self aware), without being self-conscious about it. This seems to be a rare quality in pop culture spiritualism that tries to prove that the spirit exists distinct from matter. The Lesson of Nature is veriditas (page 46) because we grow our satisfaction in our lives to make them good and worth living, like the greening power of the water cycle in nature. Thank you, Kathy!!
