I love Concordia’s idealism as she empowers her students to grow into women. And the funny comments from the teenage pupils. There are so many strengths in this book it’s hard to decide between them. Most of all ‘Lie by Moonlight’ is simply excellent reading.
She was offered a position as headmistress to a school whose students are 4 young girls whose parents recently died and who were brought first to an orphanage and then to this school. It becomes obvious that both she and her students are in danger. While she devises a way of removing the girl's from harms way, they meet a man who provides a way to keep them safe while trying to learn who is trying to hold them prisoners and why.
Like all of Amanda Quick's stories, the characters brink humor and the unexpected to the mystery. I never cease to enjoy the characters, story and sense of rebellion against societies restrictions that these novels present.
Sexual language: mild. Number of sex scenes: two brief scenes. Setting: Victorian England, sometime around 1890. Genre: historical romantic mystery with suspense.
