Life blood is a thrill ride from the first word!! So I went into this book not really knowing what to expect and what I got was a great read that had me needing to know what happened next. I found it not to be your usual romance book even though there was lots of romance.(wait till you meet Ben) So this is a sci-fi/paranormal read but it was done so differently that I didn’t feel like I was reading the same story of others like it. I would call this more of a thriller I guess. I loved the character developments and the development of friendships/lovers. I love how the author was able to introduce each character and have you feel a connection to them no matter how small the role was for them.

So here we go…Ava is our leading lady and her story starts off with a bang. She is plagued by dreams from her childhood when she was knapped and test were performed on her but it’s the man that saves her from her kidnapper that she remembers most. It was the safety he brought and the feeling of love. All through the years she thought it was her father but she lost her father to a tragic car accident that she survived without a single scratch from. Then one day at work a man comes in that she knows she knows, it’s the man from that night but he hasn’t aged a day. The pull she feels for him is undeniable though and that is what pulls her into a world she never knew existed. Her uncanny ability to research and dig for answers starts a chain reaction that no one could see coming. While she is trying to figure out just who Ben is a mad man is trying to catch her to finish what he started all those years ago.

Ben is a protector and a hunter by nature. He is hunting the man that took his dads research and turned it into something evil.

Ben is a protector and a hunter by nature. He is hunting the man that took his dads research and turned it into something evil. That same man is the man who took Ava and countless other women and children. Ben has been searching for this man for centuries and can never seem to pin him down. He watched over Ava from afar for years and swore that’s all it would be but once he comes face to face with her again as a grown women he can’t deny the true feelings he has for her. It’s a deadly chase of cat and mouse but he can’t seem to keep Ava at arms length. I love the protective side of Ben and how he is a true gentleman. The author was able to bring a gentlemen and alpha together in one character which is no easy feat.
My favorite character though is Alistair. That man could swoon the panties right off you. Alistair is Ben’s best friend and would do anything to keep him and Ava safe and happy. He’s the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back and button it up for you too. Oh and did I mention he has a sexy accent??
So in the end while this book is not your typical sexy read, it is a love story and romance none the less. This was a great read and I look forward to reading more by HK. Savage in the future, maybe a story for Alistair?? I can hope..lol

HASH(0x9c4131ec) out of 5 stars Good book to read if you liked Twilight, but with out the vampires June 10 2014
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I don't know where to start this review. When I first say the title of this book I was like great another vampire story... hmm.. ok let's see where it goes. Well, let me just say that as the old saying don't judge a book by it's cover stands true with this one.

We meet Ava when she is having a dream about being abducted as a small child and being saved by a man, who she thinks may have been her father, from a doctor. She has only bits and pieces of the memory from that day. Even though she was saved and recovered from the ordeal, she has never forgotten the voice of the person who saved her, and still has nightmares and thoughts of it even as the years have passed.

Ben Pearson, aka, Physick has watch Ava from afar ever since the day he rescued her from the evil doctor. Ben has devoted his life to stop the doctor from hurting other children, but can only succeed so far because of the doctors ability to hide and always stay one step ahead of Ben. For some reason, Ben still watches over Ava trying to ensure her safety and telling himself its just because of the fact that he was able to keep her alive which made her a bit different than others to him. What he doesn't expect is to ever actually cross her path and the way things change because of that faithful meeting.

Again, like I said before, I am glad that I kept an open mind and did not judge this book based on its name or cover. This story reminded me a bit of a television series that I loved several years ago called Moonlight. When I first started reading it was like the author wrote this book based on that show, but as I continued to read it took a turn that put it in its own category. I loved how Ben and Ava seemed to be able to relate to each other even though they are basically two very different individuals from completely different eras. The more I read the more I wanted them to be able to find a sense of peace and for the good to overcome the evil. The other part of the story that I really liked is how everything that seems to happen, helps to allow each character to become more knowledgeable about how the other person feels or thinks. I love how not only does this book have a sense of love and or longing in it, but also brings to light the ability to change and adapt to the different changes in how time allows people to become more open and or relaxed in some sense. Not only did the book have a hero and a villain, trust and honesty, but love and romance... it kind of covered it all. If you are a big Twilight fan, then you will like this book, because to me it is along the same lines, with out talking about vampires. As I got closer to the end, the more I anticipated what would happen and I liked that I felt that way. The only complaint about the book is that I would have liked a bit more for an ending. I want to see how life fairs and goes for Ava and Ben and their friends. Other than that I have no complaints of ill things to say about the story other than the fact that it is just a smooth read.

HASH(0x9c413624) out of 5 stars Life or Death Aug. 19 2012

Set in the modern day you meet Ava, fresh out of College and wondering what to do next with her Business degree. Working with antiques isn't what she wants to do forever but feels indebted to her mothers friend Elle for giving her the position when she moved to the city.

Life is moving at the same pace it always has until a tall Brunette walks in turning her world upside down. With dreams too real to be just that coming back to her she keeps seeing the mysterious man as more than her dream hero.

Ben always tried to stay away and shield Ava from the evil she had become embroiled in but fate saw to it that their paths would cross again. With forces too great for just the one to handle they travel and become the other half they were always looking for.

Gripping suspense from this action packed novel with drama and mystery throughout. It peaks at various points with their never being a flat moment.

The characters are well developed and the dialogue is fresh between them. Fingers crossed theres a sequel

HASH(0x9c4139e4) out of 5 stars Fresh, unique and an amazing read. Aug. 26 2012

I instantly fell in love with H.K Savage's character Ava, from her slight social awkwardness down to her stubborn strength in finding out the truth about her strange, constant dreams. Savage has written Life Blood with an interesting spin on the myth of 'fountain of youth' that it even had me sitting back and thinking 'whoa!'.

Every character has been created with such depth, stepping away from stereotypes and letting the character actually come alive that I could almost feel them sitting beneath the ink of every page. H.K Savage has woven a wonderful adventure with suspense, romance and action all packed into this one book, not letting the reader a moment to put the book down. The life of Ava is spinning out of her hands at the introduction of Ben, keeping the storyline fast paced and kept me on my toes - I strongly recommend this exciting read for all lovers of books.

Excellent read.

Unique in the idea that the "fountain of youth" could transpire from something so simple. It challenges your stance on the morality of what is right and wrong, then questions you on how far you'd go.

Can't wait for the sequel... there is going to be a sequel right?
