Product Description

Nicki Sosebee wants her first headline, but she doesn’t want it to read “Reporter found dead.”

Since leaving school years earlier, Nicki Sosebee has long since given up on the notion of The American Dream, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t still have dreams of her own. She realized early on that her college degree isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on, but she also knows that she doesn’t want to work for minimum wage the rest of her life.

She wants MORE.

To get there, she’s been learning the ropes as a novice reporter for her hometown newspaper, but it doesn’t take her long to find out that her naïveté is not doing her any favors. That’s where her best friend Sean Ramsey comes in. He gives her advice when her instincts steer her wrong and he supports her when she needs it.

Oh…and he’s HOT.

She’s had it bad for Sean, ever since The Night eight years ago, the one time they hooked up and had the time of their lives, but she ruined it when she accidentally called him her ex-boyfriend’s name in the heat of passion. And they’ve been friends only—and hands off—ever since.

Nicki’s currently investigating a story that she thinks might result in her first headline. One of Winchester’s bad boys has been locked up for arson, but as Nicki digs deeper, she finds it’s not just a case of trying to set fire to a house…and between being seduced by a bad ass biker and potentially getting caught by the bad guys before she can write that headline, Nicki starts to wonder if she’s really GOT THE LIFE.

About the Author

For years, Jade C. Jamison tried really hard to write what she thought was more "literary" fiction, but she found herself compelled to write what you read by her today--sometimes gritty, raw, realistic stories and other times humorous, light tales--but most of the stories she writes revolve around relationships and characters finding their way through life. While she doesn't confine herself to just one genre, nor is there a nice neat label for what she writes, most of her work could be called erotic romance. Her main writing passions include rock star romance, romantic comedy, and romantic suspense. She lives in Colorado with her husband and four children. 3.0 out of 5 stars My opinion?... May 11 2017

I good start to a series. Nicki tended to get on my nerves more than once, hence the three star rating. Although, she understood her naïvety and the trouble it could get her into, she still was like a lamb to slaughter and her perceptiveness did squat all to help that.
Sean saved this book for me. He's sexy and smart and takes no crap. He's Nicki's compass and I very much appreciated his presence in this book.

Nicki Sosenbee works as a free lance journalist and is always finding herself in sticky situations, due to the stories she is currently investigating and writing about. She is currently stuck in a bit of a love triangle. There is Sean her sexy best friend who runs his own motorbike repair shop, who she had a steamy encounter with once, 8 years ago, which is never to be spoken of, yet Nicki still secretly lusts after him. Then there is Jesse who has been interested in Nicki for years and after one conversation with him Nicki realises there is more to Jesse than she originally thought and agrees to date him. As much as she realises she likes Jesse, she also still harbours feelings for Sean.

I recently stumbled across this series after reading another book by Jade C Jamison called Tangled Web. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the others in the series that are available, and can't wait for the latest - One more time, to be released. If you've ever read Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series - I think you may like the Nicki Sosenbee series, as Nicki's character seems to have a few similarties to Stephanie Plum.

Good start to the Nicki Sosebee series. I look forward to book 2. Like the story line. Kept me interested. Also Sean seems pretty hot, so that's nice too.
4.0 out of 5 stars Love this book! June 2 2013

Nicki Sosebee is a no-name reporter but hopes to change that with investigating an arson crime that she hopes will put her story on the front page of The Winchester Tribune and turn her from a no-name reporter to a well known real reporter.

Being a freelance reporter doesn't quite pay the bills so she also works a waitressing job at a pizzeria. While working there one night she meets the gorgeous biker Carlos and things get HOT.

Nikki also has a best friend named Sean who she's known since before high school. There's a lot of sexual tension between these two but because of situations from the past and present, they can't seem to get to where Nicki would like them to be.

How does Carlos and Sean fit into this investigation? You'll have to read the book to find out.

Great read! Looking forward to book two!

Nicki is a very interesting character. She has multiple jobs, and seems very confident in herself. I found the book to be nicely paced, but a little predictable. I found my self going "I bet this will happen" and then it does. I did like the twist toward the end. I found myself frustrated with Nicki and Sean's relationship. It was like they were dancing around each other. I enjoyed the scenes between Nicki and Charlos, but would have liked to see more. I don't want to get into too much detail because it is an interesting book. I can't wait to read the next book! I would recommend this book to others because it has a nice plot and story line. The character is interesting and engaging.
