The LifeStraw is the most important item in an emergency or bug-out kit. Along with a firestarter and an emergency blanket. From there, keep building your own kit. Ask anyone about emergency preparedness and you will get hundreds of different views. The LifeStraw has almost reached cult level for acceptance and credibility. This is one of those products that everyone agrees on.

Used others. Yes, it does what it's supposed to do. Does it well. Yes, it's handy.

That said, if you're looking at this, get Sawyer Mini instead. Lasts longer, is smaller, better filter, comes with other goodies, connects to drink bladder and common pop bottles. For only a couple bucks more.

Bought this for some traveling in Southeast Asia, and it has been great! I can drink from sources that I would otherwise avoid. I was a bit worried about the flow rate initially, but you can pull through a surprisingly large amount of water with very little effort. Not quite like a normal straw, but pretty close! Definitely worth the cost.

I bought a few of these to stick in my hunting backpack in case I should ever get lost and a day trip turns into a 2+ day trip. While I have never used this and hope I never have to use this, I like the idea of having it readily available as an option.

Very fast delivery, well priced. As they are emergency use items I hope never to be able to tell you how well they worked, but they look like they would do the job
Big kudos for the 'add on' programe which facilitated buying those cheaper items where the cost of shipping would be more than the item cost. Worked well for me here.
Pleased with the purchase.

Awesome, I take this with me when I'm out fly fishing, it's much better than packing heavy bottles of water and I don't have to worry about getting beaver fever. Now if this could only filter out Beiber fever it would be even better

So far has worked well for some multiple day hikes, in freshwater streams and rivers on the north shore and up in Garibaldi Parks, BC, Canada. It does genuinely seem to filter water as it is supposed , although I have not yet had to test it on any really muddy or soiled water. Really polluted water I still would stay away from . It is small and easily fits in my hiking bad.

Great product for emergency situations where you need to hydrate. Carry one in my BoB and I keep one in my house, just in case.

One thing to note, don't keep it in you car if the temp drops below freezing as it can break and will loose it's functionality.
