LIFEVAC CAN SAVE A LIFE The LifeVac is a non-powered single patient portable suction device developed for clearing an upper airway. DON’T BECOME A STATISTIC STATISTICS A leading cause of death in children 5,000 deaths yearly One child dies every 5 days from choking Leads to 100,000 visits to the ER yearly Over 100 million Americans have no defense against aspiration emergencies due to pregnancy, disability, obesity, or being alone More people die from aspirating than die in fires, drowning or accidental shootings A leading cause of accidental deaths in persons over the age of 65 TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE 0-4 minutes: Brain damage unlikely 4-6 minutes: Brain damage possible 6-10 minutes: Brain damage probable 10 minutes +: Probably brain death Average emergency response time is 7 to 12 minutes FACTS Of all choking deaths in 2000, 41% caused by food, 59% by nonfood items (balloons, etc) Candy is associated with 19% ER visits for aspiration emergencies – 65% due to hard candy and 35% gummy bears, chocolate, caramel, etc. Coins were responsible for 18% of ER visits for children age 1 to 4 years The negative pressure generated by the force of the suction is 3 times greater than the highest recorded abdominal thrusts. The LifeVac is capable of generating over 300 mmhg of suction. The duration of suction is minimal so LifeVac is safe and effective. No prescription required.

It’s made from decent material, the one way suction is incredible. We have this in our home emergency kit and I want to order another for the car (I have little ones and you never know when choking can happen).
It comes in a zip lock type bag with the plunger, 2 adult masks (one is for learning but they are the same) and one child mask and instructions.
I hope we never have to use it, but If we do I feel confident this could get anything out that went down.

I INHALED A SIZZLING HOT AND OILY ONE INCH LENGTH OF BREAKFAST SAUSAGE. I WAS BEING BURNED PLUS ASPHYXIATED ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
PANIC MADE 15 YEARS OF REPETITIOUS TEACHING FLY OUT THE WINDOW AS SELF PERFORMING THE OLD TERMED 'HEIMLICH PROCEDURE' OR MIDSECTION THUMPS AGAINST A WALL EDGE OR CHAIR BACK WENT TOTALLY OUT OF MY PANICKED THOUGHTS.
I LITERALLY THRUST MY HAND DOWN MY THROAT NEARLY TO THE BASE OF MY THUMB AND WAS FORTUNATE THAT THE VERY TIP OF A FINGERNAIL WAS ABLE TO SNAG THE PIECE UP. FOR A MONTH A BURNED THROAT AND SCRATCHES, SWELLING, AND STRETCHED ESOPHAGUS WAS AGONIZING.
THE REALITY THAT BLIND PANIC MUST BE CAREFULLY CONSIDERED AS A DEADLY PROBLEM WELL BEFORE YOU ARE EVER A VICTIM OF SUCH AN INCIDENT SHOULD MAKE IT NO SURPRISE THAT I NOW MENTION AND THOURGHLY DISAGREE WITH THE ENCLOSED MANUAL'S INSTRUCTIONS THAT ARE SIMILAR TO THE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS OFTEN GIVEN TO HANDGUN OWNERS. WITH HANDGUNS THEY OFTEN ADVISE BULLETS IN ONE HIDDEN PLACE, MAINFRAME IN ANOTHER, BULLET CYLINDER IN YET A THIRD LOCATION, PERHAPS USEING A KEYED TRIGGER LOCK, AND OTHER SUGGESTIONS THAT MAKE THE WEAPON USELESS TO EVEN BOTHER OWNING IN A NO TIME TO WASTE EMERGENCY.
THE LIFEVAC MANUAL DUPLICATES THIS SAME THOUGHT PROCESS, TELLING THE NEW OWNER THAT AFTER FAMILIERIZING YOURSELF TO :
1.TOTALLY REMOVE THE PRACTICE FACEMASK FROM OFF THE COMPRESSION CHAMBER AND EVEN TO DISCARD IT (??? IT IS A REAL AND WORKING 2ND ADULT MASK TO BOOT AND THIS IS A $90 DOLLAR ITEM ! WHAT IS THE PURPOSE IN THROWING IT AWAY ? IT IS A REAL AND OFFICIAL AMBU TYPE MOUTHCOVERING )
2. KEEP THE OTHER 2 MASKS IN THE 2 FACTORY SEALED PLASTIC POUCHES, ONE BEING FOR ADULTS AND THE OTHER FOR A CHILD SO MORE TIME WILL BE USED UP TO DISCOVER WHICH IS WHICH.
3. PUT THE 4 SHEETS OF BULKY INSTRUCTIONS BACK INSIDE THE PLASTIC BAG AS WELL AND STORE EVERYTHING ....
NOW THIS ALL SEEMS REASONABLE UNTIL YOU ACTUALLY EXPERIENCE THE LIVING NIGHTMARE OF BEING ALONE AND CHOKING WITH THE ADDED WORK NEEDED TO ASSEMBLE, SEPERATE AND OPEN THE FAIRLY THICK SEALED PLASTIC BAGS, WORK THE NEW MOUTHPIECE DOWN INTO THE VERY DIFFICULT TO SEAT COMPRESSION BLADDER STEM, AND BE CERTAIN THE HORNED PULL HANDLE IS IN A PROPER PULLING POSITION IN OPPOSITION TO THE NOSEPIECE BRIDGE SECTION OF THE MASK.
ALL OF THAT IS AS DANGEROUS AS TRYING TO OBTAIN AND REASSEMBLE THE GUN PARTS YOU WIDELY DISPERSED AS AN INTRUDER'S SHADOW SLIDES ACROSS THE WALL TOWARD YOU.
CONSIDER INSTEAD THE WISE TRADITION OF HOME AND OFFICE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS .... THEY SHOOT OUT A COLD AND POSSIBLY BLINDING SPRAY OF VARIOUS CHEMICLES ,YET NO ONE WOULD CONSIDER DISASSEMBLING AND HIDING THEM FROM THE VERY VISIBLE HANGER LOCATIONS WHERE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE . THE LIFEVAC IS TRULY A WONDERFUL TOOL, FASTER AND BETTER THAN USING THE HEIMLICH PROCEDURE BUT A VERY BAD AND DANGEROUS MANUAL SUGGESTION.
LASTLY, DON'T BE PUT OFF BY THE NEGATIVE REVIEWERS . AT LEAST 20 SOMETHING PEOPLE SAVED A LIFE IN THESE REVIEWS BUT IF ANY ARE SAYING THE ITEM 'DOESN'T WORK' I WILL BET DOLLARS TO DONUTS THEY ARE UNAWARE OF SEVERAL THINGS : ONE : IF SO CALLED 'FACIAL TRAUMA' ALLEGATIONS ARE A CONCERN BE AWARE THAT ABSOLUTELY NO AIR IS FORCED DOWNWARD INTO THE LUNGS, THE COMPRESSION PUSH DOWNWARD SPRAYS THE AIR ABOVE THE FACE NOT INTO THE AIRWAY. UNLIKE A DRAMATIC 'RESCUE 8' TV SCENE, THERE IS NO NEED TO BE DRAMATICALLY SLAMMING DOWN RAPIDLY NOR HARD ENOUGH TO CAUSE ANY CLAIMED 'FACIAL TRAUMA'. IT IS THE UPSTROKE OR PULL THAT CREATES THE SUCTION TO REMOVE THE CHOKING ITEM AND ONLY THE PULL UPWARD NEEDS TO BE BRISK. THE DOWNWARD PUSH IS ONLY TO EMPTY THE COMPRESSION BLADDER NOT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE SUCTION. TWO : SEARCH FOR AND UNDERSTAND THE TERM 'C CLAMP' ... THE MASK IS NOT SUPPOSED TO EITHER SELF STICK TO THE FACE NOR HAVE ANY TYPE OF ATTACHMENT ELASTIC OR TIE STRINGS ... YOU MAKE A 'C CLAMP' WITH YOUR OWN FINGERS ... THE THUMB NEAR THE LOWEST POINT OF THE MOUTHPIECE AND THE FOREFINGER AND MIDDLE FINGER NEAR THE NOSE BRIDGE HEIGHT OF THE UPPER PART OF THE MOUTHPIECE. THE ALLEGATION THAT THE LIFEVAC ''JUST DOESN'T WORK'' IS THE SAME AS CLAIMING YOUR NEW SUN TANNING UNIT NEITHER BURNED YOU NOR TANNED YOU THOUGH THE FULL LIGHTING SYSTEM WAS ON AND CLOSE TO YOU FOR A FULL HALF HOUR". I TRIED THE BOWLING BALL LIFT SUCCESSFULLY AND PULLED MY REMOVABLE BREAKFAST NOOK TABLE UP AND OFF OF THE PUSH IN TABLE LEG HOLDERS IN THE FLOOR AS WELL !
