I have read this book several times and return to it again and again. The lessons learned within the pages of this book lead the photographer to a whole new level of understanding what is at the heart of photography, light. If I had to recommend just one book to somebody who has an interest in photography and who already understands the basic principles of the subject this would be it. This is not light reading for somebody with a casual interest more of an essential manual for serious photographers. The theory outlined so clearly in the book applies to all photographic situations not just the studio environment, using that knowledge is like having new powers. Simply the best

I bought this book to learn more about off camera flash. I have recently started learning about off camera flash through web sites (the "Strobist" site and various photography sites forums). But I found that some things were missing or not clear to me. This book helped to tie many of those pieces together. I read the whole book in about a week - it was that good. Now I want to go back and re-read the book taking the required time to work though some of the many examples by lighting and shooting them, so that I can better put into practice what I read. This book should help almost everyone that wants to improve flash photography.
