HASH(0xa1c94fe4) out of 5 stars tireless, unique and universal April 11 2006
By Ryan Coleman - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
heard a track on college radio and thought i'd try it (sometimes it works, as it did with broken social scene, and sometimes it doesnt, as with the fall).

this CD is, in a word, stupendous. there's not a lot of range on this CD, as its mostly nedelle singing alone or with minimal accompanying musicians (shame too, the best track, good grief, explores pop sensibilities while still maintaining her irreplacable voice). but if you like one track, you'll love the CD. put it this way: picture donovan with an angelic voice, and that's where nedelle begins.

nedelle is a thing of beauty. i'm just saddened that, like a lovely sunset, there's not more people who share in it.

HASH(0xa1c95038) out of 5 stars title of review March 10 2005

This is a bit sparser than her first album. More folky, less jazzy, although she still has a great retro jazzy way of singing, which is emphasized more on this album I think. The vocal melody on the words "tell me a story" is seriously kewl. Who'd have thought you could do so much with 3 notes and 5 syllables?

HASH(0xa1c95470) out of 5 stars A must-have album June 14 2013

I have pretty eclectic taste in music. For years, I have explored many different genres and styles of music, from jazz and classical to world music. Even still, upon first sampling this album on Rhapsody, I have to say that I had never heard anything quite like it. Honestly, the first think that appealed to me was Nedelle's voice, which has an ethereal and soothing timbre. I was enraptured by it. As for the music itself, it is truly unique, with a playful and experimental character. I have heard similar music from other artists where the music goes off the beaten path of music conventions and explores more personal, introspective ideas. I found that much of that kind of music is quaintly interesting but lacks in actual musicality. This album is an exception to that. One song after another is simply a masterfully crafted work of art that flows freely from the depths of Nedelle's personality. This sounds like music that was composed with the soul much more than with the mind. Also, The lyrics are often mysterious yet meaningful. It's hard to decide which track I like the most, but I will say that most nights I put on "Blundering Blood" to lull myself to sleep; I think it's the prettiest and most soothing track on the album. There's not a great deal of diversity of instrumentation; it mainly consists of simple guitar melodies. However, this seems to accentuate the personal nature of the music. There is an elegant simplicity here that, I think, raises this album above her previous albums.

This has now become one of my favorite albums. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes beautiful music.

HASH(0xa1c95458) out of 5 stars From the Lion's Mouth, Songs That Drop Like Kittens Feb. 1 2006

I heard Nedelle's song Wing Can on Global Pop Conspiracy and it was one of those approximately 46 times in my life when I immediately bought the CD (when I heard songs on the radio late at night as a thirteen-year-old, of course, "immediately" meant the next time I could get a ride to Murmur Records and then it was vinyl, not a CD, if they even HAD Scraping Foetus, so the first fourteen instances probably carried more weight because they required REMEMBERING the band or artist for at least ten hours, but - adjusted for inflation - the mere act of having to open another browser window, type in "Nedelle" and click about eleven more times to complete the purchase counts for something).
So being pretty old (vs. you), less than 50 instances of knee-jerk musical consumption makes each of them relatively meaningful in the overall scope of everything I've bought. The Nedelle CD came in the mail today and I listened to it about six times in a row and wanted to add my voice to the pile of others that have shouted out for this lady.
Then I saw that I'd be the first person on Amazon to even write a review for this CD. So there's no pile ... a travesty of small proportions.
Nedelle is the realization of what would happen if a young lady with musical talent went into the studio with some friends and a few ideas and it turned out better than the recording engineer expected at first.
HASH(0xa1c95818) out of 5 stars They are both great. I know April 4 2015

I bought this and Advice from Paradise. They are both great. I know, man. That is the same thing I wrote for the other album. Not a bot or fraud though. Just good music for me. :)
