This is a great live CD set from the Arcangels. Since they only released one studio album, any release from this Texas group is most welcome. This set, however, DOES NOT come with the live DVD. The description at is accurate so they cannot be faulted. The problem lies with the other reviewers who just assume this is the 3 disc set which includes the DVD. Since the DVD was the main reason I wanted the set, I am pretty disappointed with the package I received. It is still a great live recording from a great blues-rock band, and thus the 4 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Arc Angels = Texas Guitar Greats: Doyle Bramhall II, + Charlie Sexton + SRV's backup,Chris Layton/Tommy Shannon = A1+!!!! April 13 2010

I'm not sure if the amazon product description is right on this one or not, but I strongly think it is the same product I have. For one thing, it is priced about the same. I saw this product advertised in a music magazine, as a 3 disc set as follows: 1 live cd of a concert performed at Stubb's BBQ Amphitheatre, + 1 cd of 3 studio songs & 1 live song, + 1 full concert dvd of the concert at Stubb's BBQ. The live concert cd & dvd were recorded at Stubbs, in Austin, Texas, during 2009. I ordered this from the artist's website and I got what I described above. Please remember, this may or may not be the exact same thing Amazon has, but maybe my review can shed some light on their product.

If you liked Stevie Ray Vaughan, & Double Trouble, then you'll love this band!!!

Anyway on the concert DVD portion, it sure was great to see Stevie Ray Vaughan's Rhythm section of Tommy Shannon on bass, and Chris Layton on drums, performing with SRV influenced Doyle Bramhall II on lead guitar & lead vocals and Charlie Sexton on lead guitar & lead vocals. This is one fantastic concert!!! Doyle and Charlie alternate singing lead vocals. Doyle is a left handed guitar player, and Charlie is right handed.

The song set for the live CD & the Live DVD:
1.Paradise Cafe
2.Carry Me On
3.The Famous Jane
4.Good Time
5.She's Alright
6.Always Believed in You
7.Sent by Angels
8.Crave and Wonder
10.See What Tomorrow Brings
11.Shape I'm In
12.Living in a Dream
13.Too Many Ways to Fall
The Live DVD also has a Documentary of the band & Antone's tribute.

The song set for other cd:
New Studio Tracks:
1.Crave and Wonder
2.What I'm Looking For
3.Too Many People (the Paul McCartney song)
4.Spanish Moon (Live at Antone's)

This is a great package, and I highly recommend it. Thanks!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A solid well-rounded blues/rock alubm Oct. 25 2012

Arc Angels is one of those bands I have a love & hate relationship with. I absolutely love their one and only album they released in the early 90's, but hate the fact they split up and never collaborated to make more fantastic music. "Living in a Dream" is live album that showcases the group's chemistry and balanced interpretation of the blues/rock genre. New tracks are also thrown in to add some freshness. The way Doyle and Charlie trade-off vocal duties and harmonize is the key to their success with Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon laying down a simple but solid-foundation for the group. While many of their classic hits are on the record like "Living in a Dream," the star of the album (at least to me) is the Muddy Water's tune "She's Alright." The way the band plays it is almost like a Band of Gypsys interpretation that is deeply atmospheric, aggressive, yet smooth. If you like the blues/rock album, you should be adding this to your shopping cart right away!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jimi, Stevie, & Doyle is synonymous and electrifying...Corpus Chrisiti Tx July 17 2010

I totally agree with the first reviewer, Southern Rocker. A friend of mine turned me on to this (3) disc set tonight. I couldn't beleive my ears. Just Great! There's only one minute mistake Southern Rocker made. The venue is "STUBBS" BBQ, not Rabbs. Austin is today's Greenwich Village of yesteryear!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Band That Few People Know About ! Oct. 22 2012

If it was possible to give an album a '6 star review', the Arc Angels would get it ! Their only studio release ( 1990 ) as well as this live DVD / CD combo, are must haves for any true rock & roll afficianado ... the songs are well crafted, and really shine when played live ... the interaction between Charlie Sexton & Doyle Bramhall creates magical musical sparks ... laid on top of the great bass playing by Tommy Shannon, and drumming of Chris Layton. They are not bombastic performers, but are an extraordinary live act.

Why these guys never took off commercially I'll never know ... in recent years they have gotten back together for short touring stints. One can only hope they will one day get back in the studio, because one studio album, and one live DVD / CD is NOT enough from this band !!

4.0 out of 5 stars SRV's Vision Continued Through This Band Oct. 22 2010

Favorite tracks include "Good Time," where the band asks the audience if they're "ready to get funky," the seven minute long, thundering guitar-jam "She's Alright" and the album's title track, which could easily be the
band's best. The bonus disc contains new, worthwhile studio tracks, including a cover of Paul McCartney's "Too Many People."

The DVD, which also contains interview footage, was directed by Kyle Ellison and produced by Mark Proct and Charlie Boswell.
