HASH(0xa218aa44) out of 5 stars Very nice book, but not 5 stars Jan. 10 2014
By T. Schott - Published on Amazon.com

I really enjoy Pierre Lambert's books and the quality of printing is outstanding. I purchased this book from a store in Italy and the service was fantastic (especially for the $80 price on a $150 book). The only reason I'm not giving this book a 5 star rating is due to some of Pierre's image choices. There were very few full-page scenes of Shere Khan and Kaa (two major characters), but quite a few images of the vultures. I'm not sure how that choice was decided. Also, there were tons of empty backgrounds of the jungle and I mean tons, but then there would be a small picture with a great pose of Baloo. There were some blasé background painting choices for the foldouts, but then you'd turn the page and there'd be a tiny image of a key scene. I love concept art, but pages of ballpoint napkin sketches eats up a bunch of real estate in a book like this and great pieces of final art were reduced to tiny 2inch by 3 inch images. I feel like Pierre was engrossed in the background paintings and paid less attention to scenes with characters. As I mentioned, for $80 this book is well worth every penny, but the choices made were not on the level of his Mickey Mouse or Pinocchio books.
HASH(0xa218ac90) out of 5 stars The Art Of The Jungle Book March 7 2015

This series of Disney art books by Pierre Lambert are indeed the best ones out there.
The one that was done for The Jungle Book is a masterpiece.
The text is in French, but the artists names are easy to discern and the art itself is what really counts. Art work ranges from concept art, story sketches, animation drawings and cel reproductions which account for the majority. The cel reproductions are like looking at the actual cels. The art is organized by the sequences as they appear in the film. The best part about this book is that most of the art (to my knowledge) hasn't been published in any other book.
If you can afford any of these books, I highly recommend purchasing them, especially since some of the films Lambert has done books for don't exist anywhere else (especially for The Jungle Book) and image-wise he does them great justice.
I hope that the author does one for Cinderella and Peter Pan.

HASH(0xa218ac54) out of 5 stars Another Winner! May 31 2012

If you have any other Pierre Lambert books...you will want this one as well. I cannot read the French text but the stunning quality of the publication, the art, etc. is terrific. If you like Disney books for the adult collector...this is it! It's on par with his books on Snow White, Pinocchio & Mickey Mouse. Run and get this while its still available. Pub date was 2009.

HASH(0xa218af48) out of 5 stars AS EXCELLENT AS THE REST! Sept. 27 2011
By Adams - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This is an excellent addition to Pierre Lambert's unique series of disney art books. The never before seen artwork is more than amazing, the lush jungle is absolutely incredible and the overall love and care for disney art that went into this book is unprecedented and evident throughout. Dear Pierre, please please don't stop now and make the next one on Peter Pan which is considered one of the best disney animated films and boasts some of the best disney artwork ever created! If you love background art you cannot be without this volume!
HASH(0xa218b654) out of 5 stars Fantastic book, but... Aug. 3 2014

The book is fantastic, large sized and full of beautiful color plates. The first pages in french language are a great introduction to the book. Why not to have the 5 starts? Well, I'm disappointed by the fact that the bookbinding of the book I received is in no order. So from page 78 it follows the page 95, the same from page 79 after page 102 and from page 94 jumps to page 103, this last cutting a double-page image.
