Product Description

I suppose some of us have to get really dirty before we can become truly clean.

I was allegedly South Dakota's most famous Old Lady.
Sixteen years ago I had survived my Old Man’s murder.

Never again.
Never again will I surrender my heart.
Never again will I sacrifice to the Club.

But that all changed in one night.

I came home and crashed into him,
and my past and present blew up in my face.
Both of us lonely, running on empty, and unwilling to admit it.

Until now.
Now I feel things I'd forgotten about, want things I'd cut out of my insides.

Love not only stings when you lose it, when it’s ripped away,
When it first sinks its teeth into you, it can cut just as raw and sting just as deep.

I'd forgotten that.

Who holds the keys to betrayal? To suspicion? To trust?
To brotherhood? To family?
To redemption and a bleeding heart?
Right now, I just might.

This is BOOK ONE of the Lock & Key Series / A contemporary motorcycle club romance novel

Loved the mature characters (hero and heroine are in their 40's), which added a great flavor to this MC book.

This book was like two love stories in one, and each story had it's own unique twists, back story, characterizations, twists and growth that made each story not only enjoyable and compelling, but rang true to each character's portrayal.

This book will have you waiting in suspense and also tug at your heartstrings.

I enjoyed Cat Porter's voice and the way she showcased a side of MC life that is not usually shown in romance novels, however, still giving us the fantasy and characters we can care about.

I highly recommend this book if you enjoy MC romances, and I look forward to more from this author.

This was a great read and loved it as well as all the characters. This was told in present tense and with flashbacks which really gave you a background and it was wonderful - made you think you were reading 2 or 3 books in one they were so different - as Grace's past is so different than her "now". I found Grace to be one of my all-time fave female leads and I really liked sexy, alpha Dig; however, Miller was really the ideal man - sexy, alpha, caring, passionate - wow. Also liked Butler in spite of him and all he has lost. This is also told from POV's of both Grace and Miller. This is my first book by Cat Porter but it will not be my last. I did not want this to end - but really appreciate the epilogue - thank you Cat Porter

HASH(0x9c1198e8) out of 5 stars It's fully layered and the development is told beautifully. June 26 2014

I've thought about, I love the book but I know I won't do the book justice with any review I write. I'm not a reviewer. So I'll do what I do sometimes and give thoughts.

It's fully layered and the development is told beautifully. The characters are not straight out of high school, they've lived. Where younger characters have their place, these characters story would not be this story if they weren't older. And the story is just amazing, the writing is so good. I feel like every word written has it's purpose, there is no filler.

I've fallen in love with the female MC (Grace) my heart breaks for her. But she's not weak, no one walks over her, and honestly my heart doesn't break because boys are mean, it breaks because life is mean. That's what makes this book so amazing and different. It sucks you in...I just loved it.

I cannot wait to read more from Cat. She's a fantastic writer I look forward to reading more from her.

HASH(0xa1616360) out of 5 stars Fanfreakintastic! June 26 2014

"Get gone, baby, Go, sweetheart."

OMG! How much can one woman take? I'm not talking about Grace; I'm talking about me! This story will hold your heart captivated and won't let go until the end... Fanfreakintastic!

"Truth is a painful sword. It cuts deep and stings, but the pain evaporates, the blood dries, and in the place of such savagery is a gleaming absolution and an absolute purity.
I's blinding. It hurts.
And it is utterly beautiful."

Lock & Key is the story Grace and Miller and their intense roller coaster ride of a relationship. Cat Porter pulls into the MC world of non-stop twists and turns, secrets and lies and the brutal reality of the sacrifices you make for your family and club. You will feel the gamut of emotions: Love, Loss, Fear, Hate, Betrayal and Jealousy. Your heart will hurt, your eyes will tear and you will be left with the feeling of wanting more...

"Real life is messy and strange, and our ride through it left plenty of bruises, slashed hearts, a few lifeless bodies, and blood and smoke in its wake."

This story is so much more than your typical MC Book. It's intense, consuming and real. There aren't enough words for me to describe it so you're just going to have to trust me when I say READ IT!

Don't read the reviews and spoil it for yourself. (I know that sounds silly if you're reading mine but listen to me)

Buy it! Experience it! Love it!

HASH(0x9c144b34) out of 5 stars Great find! June 23 2014

I saw a review from one of the book bloggers I follow, they gave it a great review, so I figured I'd check it out. I'm so glad I did. Grace is a great, strong character. She has had her life turned upside down, but is still strong and easy to like. Sometimes the "heroine" starts out strong and tends to wimp out at some point during the story, but not here, she stays true, even when you think she might wobble into wimp out territory. Miller "Lock" was a great "Hero". Patient, understanding and of course Alpha. I liked how the book starts out and just gets right to it. That's my kind of book, with some books you think, "okay just meet already!". The only complaint I had is that I wish there was more of it. I tend to like when the writer gets into the details. Like more on the places she was when she was being a nomad for 15 years, more on her life with Dig & more back story on Miller. But what was written was very good and left nothing unexplained. And a big bonus is that even though this is Book 1, there was NO cliffhanger!! YAY!

HASH(0x9c44f840) out of 5 stars Wonderful, descriptive, emotional ride...Well worth your time June 28 2014

Spent the day reading this wonderful, vivid, emotionally charged story of people I would truly like meet. Cat Porter has an Incredible gift. I found nothing wrong with the writing, editing or the depth in which she infused her characters. They all were well rounded and real. With her one book, in my humble opinion, her writing is up there with the likes of the M. Sheehan and J. Wylde. The only negatives I have are, it ended and I ran out of Kleenex! I immediately looked for other books by this author and was disappointed that she had none listed. Respectfully wish to request she immediately get her s*** together and get Book 2 out. Can't imagine who she will pick for that one. Will impatiently look for more from her. Well done, and thank you for allowing me to take this amazing journey with Miller and Grace.

HASH(0x9c13faf8) out of 5 stars Really enjoyed June 25 2014

I always read a sample before I buy (learned my lesson with my 1st purchase on my kindle). The sample flowed really well. I am definitely a character driven reader. The storyline does not always have to make sense (this one did though), but the characters have to make me feel emotion and flow well with their thoughts and actions. This book definitely did. The sister Ruby, the main character Grace, we got peeks into Miller's (aka Lock) thoughts….all were written really well. Loved Grace…one tough cookie and she did not have any stupid moments. She was definitely a mature, put-together woman. I do not actually like flashbacks in the books I read, but this one was so well done, I actually enjoyed the flashbacks of Grace, Dig (1st biker love), and the club. I will be on the lookout for future books by Cat Porter!
