Product Description

Baseball players break your heart. They are designed to break your heart. Especially baseball players like Jacob Baird. Just drafted, just signed, just started in the minor leagues. And he works like a horse out on the ball field, although the rumor mill says that’s not the only reason they call him Horse.

I don’t date ballplayers because 1, they break your heart, 2, my dad’s the club owner and that would be awkward, and 3, good luck trying to explain my falcon to a potential boyfriend, ballplayer or not.

But why is my falcon so jealous over this guy?

OK, so I fell for the Falcons welcome-aboard prank: let the new guy hit on the hot brunette before he finds out she’s the boss’s daughter. Off-limits? Fine, I’ve got no problem playing the field.

But why is my stallion set on playing Katie instead of the field?

Imagine yourself as a shifter alone in a world that doesn't know shifting exists.

This is the Solo Shift world: no packs, no guidance, no mates, and no prospects until chance, luck, trust, and love all intervene.

What can you expect from a Solo Shift book? A standalone story with lonely shifters, shifters who don’t know they’re lonely, love scenes, and no cheating. And at least one HEA, sometimes more!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Story June 25 2017

I don't read many shifter stories. I find them to be all the same, but this is not one of those stories. This one is so different so good. I love different.

In a world where there are no packs, no mates, where you can't tell anyone that you're a shifter.

I've never read this author before, so I wasn't sure how I would like her storytelling. I liked the idea of the book, I just didn't know if I would be able to read the storytelling. A book is sometimes only as good as it's writing.

I shouldn't have been worried. Nicole Lake is a good author and can write a page turning novel.

I felt the love between Katie and Jacob. I was able to connect with both of them. I felt their struggles of trying to live a normal life and keep their secret.

No dating the players. A rule set in by Kaite's family. A rule she sticks to because after all, ballplayers will break your heart.

Jacob knows you don't date the boss's daughter. Especially when you have a shifter secret.

I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the characters, the world building. I'd read more set in this world.
4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliantly Crafted shifter novel June 27 2017

What does a stallion and a falcon have in common? They live in a world where their secrets must be kept close to home and a world of solitude.

Lone Stallion is the third book in the Solo Shift series by Nicole Lake. Even though it’s a shifter novel it’s not your typical shifter romance of packs, mates, etc. Ms. Lake brilliantly crafted a storyline of a world of two individuals who must secure their animals inside themselves to the best of their ability.

Katie’s number one rule is no dating baseball players even though she is surrounded by them (her dad owns the Falcons, baseball team). Her falcon side craves and yearns for Jacob which she doesn’t understand why. Jacob was not supposed to get caught up with the bosses daughter, however, his stallion didn’t get that memo and he can’t seem to stay away. Secrets are brought to life and their shifter sides are tested.

The chemistry between Katie and Jacob was off the charts passionate. Ms. Lake is a superb writer with this fast paced, easy to be engrossed with paranormal novel! Enjoyed reading it.

4 Stars.
3.0 out of 5 stars And I did enjoy reading this book and it's a good fast read ... June 27 2017

First this book had the potential to be a 5 star book. And I did enjoy reading this book and it's a good fast read that you can finish in one sitting. It has dual pov's which I love and it has sports which I love. It has some background on the main characters but not enough on the shifting aspects of it. I wanted more backstory on that. I have a lot of questions unanswered from that point. It is book 3 and says it's stand alones but maybe it's answers are in the other 2 books? I'm not sure as this is the first book I've read. But like I said I did enjoy it but it did leave me with some unanswered questions. It was also hard to rate because even though it had some shortcomings it was a good book. So I recommend you read it for yourself and be the judge. - By Tina
4.0 out of 5 stars Solo Shift #3 June 20 2017

I enjoyed this one. I couldn't pass it up with shifters and baseball. I go to minor league games so i enjoyed the minor league town and the inside perspective of running one. I like the family history Katie has surrounding the baseball team. Katie alwaysfollowed her grandma's rule no dating the ballplayers because they will break your heart, but try telling that to Katie's falcon side. Jacob fells instant attraction to Katie, but he can't touch the boss's daughter. Things get interesting when they secrets come out about their shifter sides.
