In a lonely bar in eastern Turkey, ex-National Geographic photojournalist Sam Ward is hired to find an eccentric professor who disappeared high atop Mount Ararat, fabled resting spot of Noah's Ark.

Accompanied by the professor's beautiful daughter, archaeologist Faye Roberts, Sam soon stumbles upon a secret stronghold—a base of operation for unleashing hell on earth.

Now running for their lives, Sam and company are about to come face-to-face with the greatest archaeological discovery of all time....

**Acclaim for the novels of J.R. RAIN**

"Gripping, adventurous, and romantic—J.R. Rain's THE LOST ARK is a breakneck thriller that traces the thread of history from Biblical stories to current-day headlines. Be prepared to lose sleep!"
—James Rollins, international bestselling author of ALTAR OF EDEN and THE DOOMSDAY KEY

"I enjoyed MOON DANCE immensely. The protagonist, Samantha Moon, is a female vampire with a husband and children. Those predate her condition; six years ago she was attacked by a vampire and rendered into one. Now she's trying to carry on with family and private eye business, and she's a feisty, skilled person, so is doing mostly okay. It is not a horror story; she buys animal blood to eat and doesn't generally prey on humans. But her husband has an increasing problem with her coldness—not of spirit, but of body. 'You sicken me and scare the hell out of me,' he tells her. 'And when I touch you it's all I can do to not gag.' She replies, 'Words every wife wants to hear.' I love this! She really doesn't deserve to be frozen out of her marriage, yet his attitude is understandable. In the course of the novel she solves the mystery she is tackling for a client, and finds a new romantic interest. What makes it special are her character and nature. I sure wouldn't have kicked her out of bed. I recommend it as light reading, odd as that may sound."
—Piers Anthony, New York Times bestselling author of A SPELL FOR CHAMELEON and ON A PALE HORSE

"MOON DANCE is absolutely brilliant!"

"MOON DANCE is a must read. If you like Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter, be prepared to love J. R. Rain's Samantha Moon, vampire private investigator."
—Eve Paludan, author of LETTERS FROM DAVID

"Impossible to put down. J.R. Rain's MOON DANCE is a fabulous urban fantasy."
—April Vine, author of THE MIDNIGHT ROSE

"DARK HORSE is one of the best books I've read in a long time! A great classic detective story with a modern twist. Unique and interesting characters (I think I'm half in love with Jim Knighthorse now!), a great plot that kept me guessing until the end, and some of the funniest lines I've read anywhere. Rain does an amazing job of blending suspense, mystery and humor in this fantastic debut novel destined for the keeper shelf."
—Gemma Halliday, award winning author of SPYING IN HIGH HEELS

"I totally loved THE BODY DEPARTED. As someone who communicates with those who are either earthbound or have crossed over—your descriptions and interpretations of the dialogue and circumstances could not have been written more accurately. My favorite scene is the one of Jesus stepping down from the cross and then the passionate and compassionate way it was treated as he went back to the cross. I will relive that for a long time to come. You're a wonderfully descriptive writer who paints a very creative, visionary canvass based in a paranormal pallet that only a few experience and many can enjoy. Thank you for your talent."

HASH(0xb42eb198) out of 5 stars Indiana Jones Type Adventure Novel! Feb. 21 2011

Very light reading, well worth the Kindle price. Historic artifacts, tunnels, caves, well armed bad guys (who can't shoot straight apparently), helicopter crashes, it's all here. If you like this sort of thing (and I do) you'll like this book.

HASH(0xb4341e88) out of 5 stars Good light read Jan. 31 2011

Since becoming an E Book fanatic I have read three other Rain books, like them all.

I would consider to be very light reading, excellent for that book in bed, not so compelling that one could not put down when sleepy.

Characters are larger than life, Oh and I wish I was as fit as the Professor at his

Will not make NYT Best Reads of 2011, but still a fun read.

HASH(0xb4341dd4) out of 5 stars A dreadful waste of electrons Feb. 15 2012

This is the second time I've skipped downloading the sample of a book by an author I've previously enjoyed, only to be burned by finding that I've purchased unedited trash. I managed to get through about twenty percent of it, complete with window "cocking" and "lochs" of hair on feet (honestly, given the content implied by these malapropisms, it should have been clearly marked as some sort of voyeuristic tale of hirsute Scottish monsters!), before the storyline became so utterly ridiculous that I had to put it down. I enjoy fantasy and adventure novels, and am quite capable of rather dramatic suspension of disbelief, but if Rain is going to attempt to pass himself off as some sort of indie Clive Cussler, rather than a writer of extremely light, but generally readable, vampire and crime fiction, he's going to have to 1) seriously invest in a qualified editor, 2) better research his subject matter, and 3) not introduce his presumably-mortal journalist characters as supermen before the book even gets off the ground. The only good thing about this book? It taught me that my first experience with downwardly-mobile authors wasn't a fluke. And to never, ever skip downloading the sample, no matter how many of the author's other books I have already purchased. With the immense pool of indie authors to sample, though, it will be a long time before I waste my time downloading one of his samples again.

HASH(0xb4347354) out of 5 stars Almost unreadably bad Dec 17 2010

This book was such a disappointment. I have previously read and enjoyed other J.R. Rain books, like the excellent Samantha Moon series, but this book was nearly unreadable. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the main character survives all sorts of ridiculous catastrophes, and the characters could not be less believable. J.R. Rain is capable of much better--don't waste your time or money on this one.

HASH(0xb43475d0) out of 5 stars The Lost Ark Sept. 19 2010
By Aaron E. Nicholson - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
Imagine sitting by a camp fire and a rugged guide telling you his mountain adventures, of avalanches, snakes, tunnels, soldiers and big guns. That guide is J.R as he weaves archaeology, a missing Professor and the fabled Lost Ark into the story.

Excellent, easy reading!!
