Lost Girl follows supernatural seductress Bo (Anna Silk: Being Erica; Billable Hours), a Succubus who feeds on the sexual energy (sometimes called “Chi”) of humans. Growing up with human parents, Bo has no reason to believe she's anything other than the girl next door – until she drains her boyfriend to death in their first sexual encounter. Once she hits the road, Bo discovers she is one of the Fae, creatures of legend and folklore, who pass as humans while feeding off them secretly, as they have for millennia. Relieved yet horrified to find out that she is not alone, Bo is faced with choosing an allegiance between the Dark and Light Fae clans. Bo decides to take the middle path between the humans and the Fae while embarking on a personal mission to unlock the secrets of her origin.
With the help of her human sidekick, Kenzi (Ksenia Solo: Black Swan, Life Unexpected), Bo takes on a challenge every week helping a Fae or human client who comes to her to solve a mystery, or to right a wrong. Already in a love triangle with Dyson (Kris Holden-Ried: Ben Hur, The Bridge; The Tudors), a sexy Fae working as a human police detective, and the beautiful human scientist, Lauren (Zoie Palmer: The Guard; Instant Star) who works for the Fae, Bo’s love life is about to get even more complicated.

The plot of this show appears to be a combination of the Meredith Gentry series of novels by Laurell K Hamilton and the Ephemera series by Anne Bishop. The Fae or Faerie are living amongst the human population; working as PI's fighting crime both supernatural and human; there is ongoing conflict between the 'dark' and 'light' Fae. Succubi, demons and other supernatural creatures abound. All in all a good time for someone who likes this kind of lightweight fantasy. Looking forward to catching up on both seasons.
And as a young succubus named Bo discovers, a life among them is a dangerous, weird one. "Lost Girl Season 1" is a brilliant premiere season for a very unique, sexy and gritty series, which imagines all mythical creatures as various breeds of fae -- and between the strong cast and witty writing, it's an absolute joy.
For years, Bo (Anna Silk) has drifted from city to city, sucking the life-force from people via sex/kisses. But after she rescues a young thief named Kenzi (Ksenia Solo) by killing an attempted rapist, she is captured by the Fae leaders, the Ash (light Fae) and the Morrigan (dark Fae). Since she has no idea who she is, they put her to an ancient test.
But Bo chooses neither the Light nor the Dark. She still gets some allies among the Fae, including werewolf cop Dyson (Kristen Holden-Ried), human doctor Lauren (Zoie Palmer) and the pleasant but mysterious bartender Trick (Rick Howland).
Because she belongs to neither side, Bo and Kenzi turn out to be perfect supernatural detectives: missing college girls, a jealous fury, missing treasure, a body-hopping Hsien, a fae-killing toxin, a crooked country club, a spider with a deadly power, a family feud, a string of supernatural suicides, and Dyson being accused of murder. And while she does this, Bo searches for her mysterious origins -- only to find that the truth is much worse than she could have imagined.
A show about the adventures of a beautiful young succubus sounds... well, like the premise for a porn movie, not a fantasy-noir series.Read more ›
As far as the show... I got hooked on the premise when I accidentally found it on SYFY a couple of months ago. I love all the mythical creatures that have shown up. Not usually a big fan of science fiction, I am enjoying the variety and creativity of the writers as they integrate each new creature into the story line. I am not necessarily pro-dyson or pro-lauren, but look forward to the wonderful lines delivered by Kenzie. Her character has a quick wit and is usually a great source of fun, laughter, and guaranteed trouble. Look forward to season 2 and now season 3 which is in production.

If you like the supernatural world you will enjoy this series! It deals a lot with the faerie world, but has a different take on it than many other shows that is very interesting. Read morePublished on Sept. 6 2013 by Heather A. Nicholson
