"'Simply breathtaking. Yossi's story of survival haunted me for weeks' Bryce Courtenay, author of The Power of One 'A thrilling book... One man's amazing adventure' The Washington Post 'One of those amazing survival stories that almost brings you [to] a cold sweat just from reading it. Once you start you won't put it down' The Mercury"

Product Description

Four travelers meet in Bolivia and set off into the heart of the Amazon rainforest, but what begins as a dream adventure quickly deteriorates into a dangerous nightmare, and after weeks of wandering in the dense undergrowth, the four backpackers split up into two groups. But when a terrible rafting accident separates him from his partner, Yossi is forced to survive for weeks alone against one of the wildest backdrops on the planet. Stranded without a knife, map, or survival training, he must improvise shelter and forage for wild fruit to survive. As his feet begin to rot during raging storms, as he loses all sense of direction, and as he begins to lose all hope, he wonders whether he will make it out of the jungle alive.

Lost in the Jungle is the story of friendship and the teachings of nature, and a terrifying true account that you won’t be able to put down.

This well written true story gave me nightmares afterwards and brought back my own memories of lost in a jungle. While I was found after only one day this guy was lost for weeks. His story is well worth reading and speaks to our inbred need to survive at any cost.

I bought 3 "adventure" books together, and this was the first one I wanted to read. The book is good, the story clearly told, but this is not of the same calibre as books like "Into Thin Air", "Into the Wild" and "128 Hours" are. Yossi is a simple man. They seem like hobos who simply wander into the jungle thinking nothing more than the fact that there could be more food in the woods. He and his friends seemed to have gone off into the jungle woefully unprepared and unaware of the problems they could face. Seriously, one of them goes into the jungle in cowboy boots! Their complete naivete is both interesting and frustrating. Overall I definately enjoyed this book; the story does not slow or stumble and is smoothy told in that simple tone, a comfortable read beginning to end.

I've spent some time in the jungle, and I cannot imagine surviving more than one, maybe 2 heavy rain falls! It's hard to imagine what he endured! The wetness, the cold and the hunger. This guy's spirit and strength was amazing! Very inspiring adventure and survival story! I've recommended time and time again.

I read this book and couldn't put it down. A true story of survival that is both a cautionary tale of knowing what you are walking into and being prepared for anything...and the will to survive. I'm glad I read this book and recommend it heartily.

Really gripping. The tale of four men who set out to see a "real, untouched Indian village"" in the Amazon jungle. Things go badly, then get worse, they get separated and then it really goes to hell. Excellent writing.
