There is nothing to dislike about this album. For some of us this is the closet we'll get to see the
show Love. I especially like how all the songs roll into the next.

As much as I don't entirely like the idea of it using mash ups of Beatle songs. This is an excellent way to hear The Beatles in 5.1. DVD-Audio 5.1 is of course superior to the accompanying 5.1 audio in DTS and Dolby in the DVD-Video section of the disk. I am very sad that DVD-Audio is a disappearing format. It is superior in every way to CDs. Players are difficult to get as they always have been. This DVD includes 5.1 mixes of a number of Beatle songs including I Am The Walrus, Help, Strawberry Fields Forever and others. There are many more songs that come in and out of the music in bits. I don't recommend the CD version of this album though. It sounds messy. 5.1 is necessary to appreciate the aim of this type of mixing. I have a DVD-Audio player on a computer with 5.1 speakers. For those who do not have at all a DVD-Audio player, it can be achieved on almost any computer. Get the program Foobar 2000, which plays DVD-Audio files (AOB files) from any DVD drive. Use a program to get the files onto your computer if necessary. Be warned if you depend on HDCP to play DVD-Audio. The new standard has DVD-Audio playing at 16 bits instead of its original 24 bits, according to what I have read. So avoid HDCP. Use an analog output not HDMI.

Très bon CD

The purists had some trouble with this major remix of some of the Fab Fours greatest hits for the Cirque du Soleil, but I quite enjoy it. It was done with the blessing of Paul, Ringo, Yoko Ono and Olivia Arias Harrison. Besides, with the original producer George Martin at the controls with a little help from his son, Giles, nothing is that far off the originals. The acoustic version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps and the backwards version of Sun King are the exceptions. Harrison's weeping acoustic guitar is a jarring but welcome revelation. Little snippets from other tunes and studio chatter sound bites are dropped into these mixes, but in the end you the love you have for the originals will always draw you back to them. (CD was in fine condition, no surprises.)

I'm not an average vinyl collector.
I purchase strictly for the art. Most of my collection is unopened.
So I cannot give review on the sound. But as a visual art form - stunning.

FANTASTIC!!! This CD is so good it's unbelievable. It captures the heart of The Beatles music so well. And although The Beatles and George Martin were the obvious geniuses behind rhe music, I must give a standing ovation to the person who mixed and edited the music for this album! You have talent as well, sir or madam!
The only very minor thing that I didn't enjoy is that "Let It Be" (as far as I recall) was not included in any of the mixes. But aside from that, there's no way I couldn't give it 5 stars.

Many Beatles songs, sung by the Beatles- ends of songs cut off to fit more songs on disk

These are the songs as sung by the Beatles on their recordings, not a try by an amateur band

WOW sound quality, an outstanding recording if only all remasters were this good
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on January 15, 2020Verified Purchase
This is a wonderful recording and representation of famous Beatles tracks. The sound quality and detail is staggering. These tracks are not just a a representation of the originals but alternative mixes of material recorded at the time.
The sound quality cannot be faulted or understated it is quite outstanding. Any errors would be immediately obvious, there appear to be none. A testament to the quality of the original recordings and the skill of those selecting and presenting these tracks.
I have not set out to write reviews of the music content as “beauty is in the ears of the listener”. These reviews are about the quality (or not) of the recorded sound. To read about how the reviews are done please see my profile.
• Clarity – Stunningly clear no muddiness
• Channel separation – Very good
• Channel balance – very good, creates a wide open spacious feel. Gives a real feeling of depth and richness to the recording
• Sound Stage – Very broad and deep, even on some of the oldest tracks, has a real feeling of being there
• Distortion – Non audible
• Compression – Non audible
• Atmosphere – A wonderfully atmospheric recording which reflects the care taken in the selection, remixing and remastering of each track
• Bass – low frequencies – Rich without booming. The bass instruments sound as they should. The stringed instruments resonate beautifully
• Treble – high frequencies – Crisp clear without being shrill or tiring. Capable of soaring
• Vocals – Clear and marvellous
As a general rule of thumb recordings from the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s are nearly always better on the original vinyl. Remasters often fail to please as it’s just not possible to make a silk purse from a sows ear, i.e. the original recording lacks the necessary detail to be processed digitally and show an audible improvement. Indeed such processing can make the sound worse.
Modern recordings which have been processed digitally from start to finish can be as good as vinyl. CD’s are often unfairly criticised for being poor quality. This is not the case, it is the original recording or the process which is to blame. Modern “remasters” can both enhance and degrade a recording. The statement GIGO (Garbage In Garbage Out) is the limiting factor. Ignore this at your cost.

Love - a project with love at the heart of it.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on May 12, 2016Verified Purchase
Although it's all old stuff, this mix and mash-up makes them sound refreshingly new, The tracks blend into one another and the Album flows effortlessly from start to finish. Giles Martin (son of the famous George, Beatles' producer) does his father and the band proud. This is a truly fine project, and one that is obviously done with a lot of love. The vinyl sounds better than the CD, though coming from a vinyl age I would say that wouldn't I. It has deep and mellow tones, punctuated by the odd surprise when a well know 'snippet' fades in and out. Or the melody once established, blends into a totally different one to end the track. This is very much a personal view, but I took this as a journey of the mind. It's great to hear those tracks once more, sounding so fresh, almost like the first time you heard them. I rate this product 5 stars for entertainment and value.

Bought used but was still surprised how USED it was !
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on July 16, 2020Verified Purchase
Bought as used so wasn't expecting mint condition but sadly the cd arrived in a very used condition , surface of the disc was scratched and filthy , multiple fingerprints all over it ,-see pics- ok it is playable just about , I had expected it to be checked before being sent out
BUT it is a Great album , love the sound and the way it's been compiled , great for putting on while cleaning or driving . Will never be quite as good as the individual albums but for quick fix of the fab four this will hit the spot. Never seen the Cirque show but I'm guessing it's a memorable show .
I already have this album and bought this for my 9 year old son who has just started liking the Beatles sound. It will no doubt take a bashing but would have like it to be dispatched in a more suitable condition.

Fantastic mash-up
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on May 27, 2020Verified Purchase
Surprisingly I've seen the odd review that criticises the quality and content of this CD. It's so good that I bought this again to give to a friend. I also have the DVD-A set, which is an unbelievable sonic treat. I can't see the point of other buyers criticising the 'mash-up'. What did they think they were buying, newly discovered tracks? Giles Martin has pushed the mix, where needed to 11, to add even more oomph, to which even the newer deluxe box sets don't get. The regular stereo version sounds fab too. I wish Giles Martin would think about a Volume 2!
