Product Description

-- A USA TODAY Bestseller --

From the author of the NYT bestselling Can't Resist series comes a lighter, sweet small town romance series set in the fun, quirky town of Cactus Creek.

Cactus Creek's most romantic eligible bachelor, new-to-town and new-to-singlehood chocolatier Luke Bradford believes in old school romance, fighting wars waged over love, and deploying his dimples whenever an impossible-to-resist woman instigates it. But for once, he's trying not to platter up his heart to get stomped on. So, he throws all his energy into the brand new hobby he picked up to keep himself from falling:

...driving the addictively easy to incite beer-brewing beauty next door crazy.

Cactus Creek's feisty brewmaster and town sweetheart Dani Dobson cannot believe how good her ridiculously handsome, maddeningly charming new neighbor is at pushing her buttons. What's worse, he does it with this dangerous smile-inducing, chocolate-covered romantic idealism--not unlike the kind her heart has been shattered by before. Luckily, she has her go-to hobby to keep her defenses up, and her mind off of the man:

...playing her own version of cupid for everyone in town but herself.

When Dani and Luke's inexplicable chemistry escalates their ensuing chocolate and beer feud into so much more, old wounds and new demons surface to bring them face-to-face with exactly what they've been protecting themselves from:

...the kind of love that could break their hearts all over again.

"A new must-read series from Violet Duke. Not only will you fall in love with the characters, you'll fall in love with romance." --New York Times Bestselling Author Kathleen Brooks

I got this book at the beginning of the month off amazon and started reading it almost right away, the plan was to have quite a few romance books read for Valentines weekend, unfortunately that didn’t happen because I fell in love with the book and the characters and had a hard time letting go.

I read the prequel to this book A Little Combustible Chemistry and you can read my mini review of it here. This book was about a girl who has convinced herself that love isn’t for her after having her mother walking out on her and a relationship that blasted her heart to smithereens, she forsakes love when it comes to herself but is unknowingly a hopeless romantic for others and has been for years. A little friendly competition between two businesses sparks an unlikely romance for the girl who doesn’t want to believe in the magic of love.

This novel was a tear jerker ^ I attempted to give my best sum up of the book without giving away any spoilers but it doesn’t do it justice. I didn’t really want to put the book down but after the plot started to head towards it major turning point, I had fallen in love with the main couple so much that I didn’t want to see negative things happen and so I tried to prolong and hold on as much as I could. But in the end I was happy with the way the book turned out, the author saved quite a few plot twists for the end, most of which I laughed my bottom off too.

This was a great find to read around Valentines Day, and the author being a new to me, it was a great treat. I look forward to reading the rest of the series, I couldn’t imagine leaving all the great characters I got to meet behind just yet.

There was fun, romance, and ALL a romantic book should have. I didn't find it overly verbose. There was ingenuity in the way they chose to up the contest ante. Fortunately it wasn't sloppily sexual or heavily laced with" I Love Yous". It was an amusing plot with good characters.
