HASH(0xa19fab28) out of 5 stars A sweet Recency Romance. A enjoyable read... Feb. 24 2015
By Amazon Customer (April Renn/AprilR ) - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
A sweet Regency Romance! A bit bland at times, the wording a bit confusing at times, but overall an enjoyable read. The H/H were a bit confusing in their attraction to each other... a love-hate relationship. The hero was arrogant and somewhat demanding. The heroine, bidable, easily led toward danger, innocent, in more ways than one. As their love blossoms, danger lurks.
Altogether, not a bad story, but at times, to me at least, it seemed to be missing an important element, not sure what, really. A unique storyline, as the hero's family had been providing for the heroine's family for a couple of generations on the hero's family estate. Than, there is a couple of subplots, the heroine's brother eloped, and the danger that lurks toward the heroine. Pick up this story and see for yourselves, it is an enjoyable read. While, I feel is was a satisfying read, it liked something though. I think the characters needed more depth, maybe. They seemed a bit shadow, to me. There is danger, suspense, mystery, as well as romance. The plot was unique and intriguing. Overall, an enjoyable read.

HASH(0xa1b3b540) out of 5 stars Missed opertunities March 29 2015
By Rosemary Knight - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
This book had all the making of being a 5 star choice, but because of the writing & editing it fell short.

The concept of the book along with the characters were intriguing enough, but the author was unable to keep her own thought and events correct. A lot of the book was repetitive in the description of the characters words, actions and thoughts. One point one of the main characters stood up and paced - then a sentence or two later she stood up and between to pace ,with out ever sitting back down. A lot of miss steps such as that. The author should also seek advice from a thesaurus, it would go a long way.

HASH(0xa19fa270) out of 5 stars Beyond what I expected April 16 2015

WOW!!! Yes that is how I am starting out this review. I have never read a Regency Historical Romance from this time frame in London. So when I went into this I was thinking I was not going to enjoy this book but man was I wrong I was hooked right from the start. I loved Fantine Delmire's spunk and her fire from the beginning you can tell she doesn't like that her life is being forcefully turned upside down against her will. And to her Earl Nicholas Ashcom (Nick) is the enemy. And boy do they start off on a rough patch.

When Lord Ashcom forces Fantine to London to a coming out season the sparks fly even more. So does the jealousy of one Lady Vladim and the plot she and a few others plan may just change everything. What neither Nicholas or Fantine expect is that soon the irritation they each have toward the other begins to change. But will it be enough to survive what happens to Fantine.

Oh you have to read to find out let me just say I couldn't put the book down. My daughter had to wait for dinner lol sorry the story just sucked me in, the characters jumped out of the pages. I loved Aunt Dorothy she was awesome. Gloria what an excellent story.

This book was a gift from Gloria Gay and Paranormal Romance & Authors That Rock for an honest review. My favorite characters are Fantine and Aunt Dorothy. Fantine is such a sweet girl. Aunt Dorothy tries to help Fantine. This book is packed full of twists and turns. It keeps you wanting to know what will happen next. There is always something new and exciting to pull you in. This book is well written. It keeps you wanting more. I have not read a book like this in a while. I most definitely enjoyed this book and I hope you will too.

HASH(0xa188139c) out of 5 stars Sweet, clean, but lacking in execution Oct. 19 2015

When a book gives you goosebumps by the first chapter, you get high hopes. I was excited, and i did enjoy the first part. But then, what happened? Fantine, who was introduced as a headstrong young woman at Evergreen, suddenly became very biddable once she got to London for the enforced Season where she is to find a husband who is not averse to supporting her family as well. Nick, the hero, is bent on getting rid of Fantine's family, who have have been dependent on his for generations. This is not a very common plot and really sounded so good, but the execution is lacking. The romance felt choreographed. One moment Nick is thinking how ungrateful the heroine is and how he'd be glad to be rid of her, the next he's driving around with her, stopped by the shade of a great tree, and bam! he's declaring how much he loves her and how he couldn't go on without her, brings forth a great antique ring and proposed! She of course answered that she too "could not imagine ever being without him and his love in her life". I thought that was very awkward. Not a romantic proposal at all, simply because there was no development toward that scene; it just happened out of the blue. Then, after having secured her father's blessings, he says they were to marry by special licence the next day, and then i read something that says "they were married a week thereafter" or such. The book is at times confusing. Such a pity, because it has all the elements of a very good book. There's romance, suspense, very good villains, and other interesting sub plots and secondary characters. I feel bad to not be able to give this a higher than neutral rating.
