If you've never heard of Bob Goff, he's kind of known for living for God in a creative, whimsical, inspiring way and this book "Love Does" is a collection of essays written about lessons Bob has learned about God in his life. "Love Does" had me smiling, laughing, and wanting to serve God with intensity and whimsy too.
If you like Donald Miller's style then I think you will love "Love Does" by Bob Goff.

The books huge strength is in its easy readability, and in its ability to help the reader to "discover a secretly incredible life in an ordinary world"
It is not written to be a theologically sound book, and at times Bob criticizes others (usually in conservative circles) and their motives in what I would term unfair ways.
That being said, it was fun to read, and helped me consider how I can live more fully, and love more openly.

Discover a Secretly Incredible Life In An Ordinary World....this describes the new book released by Thomas Nelson wonderfully! This book inspires me and challenges me to live life at the next level. Reading Mr. Goff's new novel, Love Does changes you. With the wonderful stories, the amusing life lessons and the wisdom of a man that has lived life with passion and purpose, Love Does brought tears to my eyes and laughter to my lips.
I particularly enjoy the way the Mr. Goff tells a story, it seems as if you are sitting at the campfire hearing a tale of the latest adventure. It is always enjoyable when the story jumps to life as his tale of eating ice cream with foreign diplomats, or the tale of his Jeep accident...or college days...
This Book was given to me as part of the Thomas Nelson Blogger program. I am under no obligation to provide a positive review. It is my pleasure in this case to give this book 5 stars!! Well Done Bob Goff, and if you are in the neighborhood bring your family for ice cream!

The Author has led and interesting life, and this book is a result. After opening the first page, I could not put the book down. I could easily see why Goff's friends encouraged him to write a book, he does have a lot to say.
This isn't another Christian self help book. It is a story, a story of what happens when one person decides to follow their heart and live out their love. It is a pageturner. I sat down and read the book over two days. That doesn't happen often. From the first chapter I was hooked.
Goff has led an interesting life, as the back cover states:
"As a college student he spent 16 days in the Pacific Ocean with five guys and a crate of canned meat. As a father he took his kids on a world tour to eat ice cream with heads of state. He made friends in Uganda, and they liked him so much he became the Ugandan consul. He pursued his wife for three years before she agreed to date him. His grades werent good enough to get into law school, so he sat on a bench outside the Deans office for seven days until they finally let him enroll.
Bob Goff has become something of a legend, and his friends consider him the worlds best-kept secret. Those same friends have long insisted he write a book. What follows are paradigm shifts, musings, and stories from one of the worlds most delightfully engaging and winsome people. What fuels his impact? Love. But its not the kind of love that stops at thoughts and feelings. Bobs love takes action. Bob believes Love Does.
When Love Does, life gets interesting.Read more ›
