I loved this book! It was a fun read and it took me no time at all to get through it. I liked following both characters and found that they both added something unique to the story.I always wanted to know what was happening to each of them. The descriptions were well done without being over the top (I hate that about some fantasy books). I was able to imagine the fantastical world of Qarradune without any trouble at all.
I found Megan to be hilarious and quirky and I liked experiencing what Syliza looked like through Irys's eyes. Both characters felt very real to me and I could identify with both of them on some level, which was a bonus because sometimes I have a hard time empathizing with characters in fantasy books, especially when they are not from Earth or are from the future.
Aside from the two main characters I love, loved, LOVED Thayn and I hope there is more of him in the second book, and Galnar....man, what a freak'n devil (he's even got red freak'n eyes LOL!)
This is definitely worth the read. My only complaint is that it ended too quickly! I can't wait for the sequel. I HAVE to know what happens to Megan and Irys.

These ladies (Julie and Amanda) know how to get a reader hooked! I actually read this for the second time and will be reading the sequel today. I love how Megan is funny and brave and how Irys is sweet yet on the verge of letting her inner badassness out. Oh and I kind of have a crush on Commander Varda. ;) Cheers to making new friends, even if they live in a book. -Petite Stephy

This is a good book, although there were a few concepts that had me wondering if it was suitable for its young adult target market. There's nothing sexually explicit but there is a male character who is violent toward the young female characters. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel.

A surprisingly enjoyable read! At first I thought this was going to be another typical teen romance, but I couldn't have been more wrong. I liked that the story was told from the points of view of the two main characters and I was entertained all the way through. I'm really hoping there is going to be a sequel. I really want to know what’s up next for Megan and Irys and I want to learn more about Qarradune!

Normally not the type of book I read. However the characters were original and easy to remember. The book had some suspence, adventure and just enough fantasy to keep me interested. Will defenitly read the next book when it comes out
