Product Description

The equations are simple.

Piper Ashby + Brad Ashby = Twin Siblings
Brad Ashby + Tanner McCain = Best Friends
Piper Ashby + Tanner McCain = Off limits

Tanner and I abided by the rules. We stayed on our designated sides of the relationship circle.

Ignoring swarming butterflies.
Brushing off skipped heartbeats.
Settling on lingering stares.

Here’s the secret … a hand extended over that invisible line once, exponentially changing the equation. I was convinced we could make our relationship work until Tanner broke the trust he embedded in me from the age of seven.

One deceit of mega proportions and the relationship we built for that short month vanished. I swore never to speak to him again and it’s worked. Until now—two years later, when my brother’s wedding places me face-to-face with the best man—Tanner McCain.

Leaving one equation to be solved. Can love surface twice?

“Why now?”

“I honestly can’t stay away anymore.”

Piper has been in love with Tanner for as long as she can remember. He’s always been there in her life as kids, as teens, and now as young adults. The problem is he only sees her as his best friend’s twin sister. But things change when their friendly flirting becomes so much more. They end up having a secret relationship so they don’t hurt her brother Brad. Tanner doesn’t want this to be a fling, he wants more and to tell his best friend how he feels about his sister. Before that happens, however, things come to a bad end when Tanner reveals some information to Piper he had been keeping from her.

“You’re the girl for me, and I doubt a carbon copy of you is out there somewhere…Just know, you’ll always hold my heart.”

Two years later and Tanner is training hard to swim in the Olympics. Piper gave up on swimming and is now working as a teacher in a community college. She hasn’t had any contact with Tanner since he broke her trust. And now it seems she will see him again since he is the best man for her brother’s wedding. Despite Piper trying to get over Tanner, one meeting with him and she is almost ready to cave. Their attraction is just as heady as it always was. This time, Tanner isn’t going to give her up without a fight.

I thought the story was a sweet one. I really enjoyed the first part of the book where Tanner and Piper are seniors in college. I liked the banter between them but not as much as I liked the scorching connection they shared. It was crazy hot! The whole story was in Piper’s POV, which I usually don’t mind, but there were times I really wished I could get Tanner’s perspective.

This book was so unexpected! So enjoyable and perfectly edited. Piper and Tanner face some unusual challenges and we learn a lot about the world of competitive swimming but more about how holding on and perseverance can work.

This story was readable but a little uninspired. I didn't develop a strong liking for the main guy which made it hard to love.

HASH(0xa532edc8) out of 5 stars How have so many people given this 5 stars???! June 10 2015

I'm not sure if I'm reading the same book as the other 118 people who reviewed it. While I think the story could be good, the writing seems juvenile and disjointed. I seriously think the author used a thesaurus to find new words to sound "smart." Well, it doesn't just makes it harder to read. Plus, I don't think any editing was done whatsoever, even though Unforeseen Editing is credited. If the author paid for their services, she should get her money back, I don't think they actually did anything.
**Spoilers - mainly for illustrative purposes**
pg 101 - "My heart was crushed when I saw her snake her tongue into his mouth, but even worse was witnessing him welcome it with his hot and horny pubescent one."
Pg 101 - "Unfortunately, when I attempted to jolt a full-blown make-out session, Parker wasn't interested."
pg 97 - "Pushing my jeans down, his touch was so ginger and caring."
pg 80 - "Now, hurry because I can't wait for your a** to be bare for my taking. A huge echo of laughter pores out of him, only spurring my own giggling."

These are just a few examples...the entire book is filled with similarly awkward wording. How so many people gave this book 5 stars is completely beyond my comprehension. The book has potential, but until it is edited substantially, I won't be finishing it. And I will no longer be taking Amazon's recommendations for books I may like. There have been too many duds like this.

HASH(0xa5331414) out of 5 stars 3.5 Star review April 10 2015

Love Surfaced is a sweet story about many things. It’s the story about friends growing up and always staying close and sharing a special bond. It’s a story about family and the bonds siblings’ shares. And it’s a story about the one true love everyone hopes to find and when they do but lose it, it’s about it never truly dying and getting a second chance to win it back.

Piper has spent her life growing up swimming, dreaming of the Olympics just like her twin brother Brad and his best Tanner. But there was always something more between Piper and Tanner but because of Brad, they were never allowed to cross that line into something more. Many years later in the senior year at Michigan University, it becomes clear now for Piper that her dream of the Olympics is never going to happen and that swimming is not her future. One dream that did come true is Tanner finally crossing that line and realizes he truly did have the same feelings she was having. They decided to keep things quiet until the figured out what would come of them but before they ever really got a chance to tell Brad or see what could have come, it all came crashing down thanks to Tanner and Piper is left heartbroken and never the same. Two years later Piper is now with Curtis but she must return home and face Tanner thanks to her brother getting married. She ran two years ago and wouldn’t let him explain himself and this time around, Tanner is going to make her listen and do everything he can to get her to forgive him and give them a second chance at the love they once had.

From the beginning of this story, the chemistry was always there between Piper and Tanner, but they were both scared of what would happen if it didn’t work out and what would Brad do. I really liked the banter and the teasing between in the beginning, they were fun and flirty and when they finally came together, they were off the charts hot. You could see from that very moment that what these two shared was love, a love that ignited at a very young age and only grew from there over the years. This was a love that was based on the foundation of friendship but was so much more, this was the love of soulmates that would never die. I really enjoyed these characters, you couldn’t help but love them and connect with you and I really could feel the love she felt for him. It was a nice change to read her single POV, as most books these days are multiple POV’s, but there were at times I found myself wishing to get inside of his head, so that I could see more of him and his love for her.

The storyline was enjoyable with a mix of sweet and sexy with a nice level of drama. My only issue was that the story was very predictable and as soon as something happened and she ran, I could see how the rest of the story was going to play out and it left me disappointed as the thing I enjoy most about reading is the surprise twists and turns to a story, every book is a new adventure and I love the butterflies and giddiness I get from that. Sadly this book didn’t do that. The writing was well done, the character development was good, I just wished I could have been surprised with how the story played out. This was my first Michelle Lynn book but I definitely won’t make it my last.

The equations are simple.

Piper Ashby + Brad Ashby = Twin Siblings
Brad Ashby + Tanner McCain = Best Friends
Piper Ashby + Tanner McCain = Off limits

Add to that the angst , heartache , yearning and although there may be that amazing HEA let's not discuss the mid book cliffy , are you kidding can you do that !! Right as something big is going to happen then the authors presses the fast forward button and we are left hanging forever not knowing what the heck caused this to happen. Then 2 YEARS LATER no way , is this a joke, the torture , the longing. I was itching for Tanner and Piper to finally have their moment. it was painful !! This is Piper's story to tell but man would I love to be in Tanner's head !! He is amazing and just so swoon worthy , I couldn't get enough of him , of them !! Piper's actions shocked me a bit but nobody's more than Brad. I really felt betrayed by him myself , having said that I am hoping he finds his HEA and I would love to read about it !!!!!!!

Twins Brad and Piper are living their high school dreams on the swim team both struggling to qualify to train for the olympics. Their 3rd wheel , Brad's BFF and Piper's secret crush has made his dream come true and he is going to train for the olympics. Here we have a case of BFF wanting what the other has and said BFF wanting what the other says is off limits !! There is no denying the attraction between Piper and Tanner. Everyone sees it but they never act on it because of Brad. It is torture knowing how badly they want each other. Once that hurdle passes many others present themselves. the sneaking , the secrets , the lies and then the devastation. When these 3 come together again for an event years later you won't believe the secrets that come out. Nobody has moved on , everyone is still bitter and suffering. Can they fix this mess before it is too late ??

Although we start this journey in their past we end with a beautiful second chance at love for Piper and Tanner. Piper is a great girl and I could connect with her on some levels but I really wish she would have just listened. Wasted time is such a heartbreaking thing in the book world. It happens so much and it always drives me crazy !! Think of all the hot sex we missed in that 2 years !!!!!!! Tanner may have given her space but once he comes home it is time to reclaim his girl and his persistence and sweetness is phenomenal. Of course his dirty talk and brash behavior is amazing as well !! He is such a great mix of all my favorite book boyfriends. Great ending and I truly do hope we get more , maybe a Brad book or a Dylan book or how about both !!

Michelle Lynn is one of my favourite writers ever since Collaboration and The Invisibles series. I was intrigued when I read the plot of Love Surfaced, because a trip from the land of musicians and instruments to the swimming pools and high-performance sport? That should be interesting.

Piper was secretly in love with his twin brother’s best friend, their neighbor and fellow swimmer Tanner McCain for years. Now, in their senior year of college, they can’t deny their feelings and the sizzling chemistry anymore and start a secret relationship behind Brad, her twin’s back.

But just as it started, after a few weeks of sneaking kissing and intimacy, it quickly comes to a painful end.

Lies and betrayal stands between Tanner and Piper, and they are apart for two years with no communication.

Tanner now trains to the Olympics, and Piper is working at their hometown’s community college, while dating with a guy who can’t make her forget the one that got away.
Brad is about to get married, and the ex-lovers need to face with each other.

They quickly discover that their connection doesn’t faded with the years. Tanner is determined to unravel the secrets and get back the one girl he ever loved.
But can their love surface for the second time?

The story is very well written and flawlessly drafted. I loved that it never gets predictable. Although I’m a fan of switching POV between the heroine and the hero, I’m glad it was just Piper who told us their story. I understood Piper’s fears and uncertainty, and I admired that she tried to be strong.
It’s a good thing that Tanner was so insistent and patient, becasuse Piper’s insecurities were often hard to deal with, and gotten in their way more than once. Their couple came a long and hard way before they got what they deserved.

Michelle Lynn can truly give a unique voice to her every charachter, I couldn’t compare Love Surfaced to anything I ever read from her. I enjoyed it, and would recommend to fans of friends to lovers and second chance love stories in the new adult genre.

HASH(0xa5331354) out of 5 stars Mixed feelings with this story. There were parts I liked a lot, but also things that just didn't work for me. Not my favorite. April 14 2015

Review for Ramblings From This Chick.

Let me just start off by saying that little sister and brother's best friend books are seriously my crack. I cannot get enough, and I will read every single one that crosses my path. For real, I cannot turn them down. That being said, I really wanted to read this one because I enjoy Michelle Lynn's writing and have liked other books that I have read by her. Love Surfaced was a good story, and there were a lot of things I liked. But I also had some mixed feelings because there some things that I really didn't like as well.

Piper Ashby has grown up with Tanner McCain and has loved him for most of her life. Her twin brother Brad Ashby is Tanner's best friend, and all three of them spent a lot of time together growing up and pursuing their dreams of being US Olympic swimmers. When they are seniors in college, Piper and Tanner finally decide to give in to their feelings and begin a secret relationship. But when Piper finds out that Tanner lied to her, she ends things and cuts all ties with him. Two years go by without contact, until her brother is preparing for his wedding with Tanner being his best man. Now Tanner is back and is determined to win Piper back, but Piper isn't ready to forgive him, Can Tanner get her to finally hear his side to the story and take a chance on a future with him, or will Piper and Tanner be over for good?

One of my biggest issues with this story I am sad to say was Piper. This girl was so insecure, and it absolutely drove me nuts. She was weak and it didn't get better. I honestly believe that if it weren't for her best friend Bea, that she would have pretty much ruined her entire life because of her fears. She would have moments where it appeared that she was finally making progress, but then it would just disappear and she would be back to the same scared little girl. She was wishy washy and I just wanted her to believe in herself and in the feelings and connection that she had with Tanner. Tanner was another problem for me. While I liked his character, I felt like there were a lot of things that he should have done differently. He didn't encourage attention from other girls, but yet he didn't really handle it either. He would let them flirt and touch him in front of Piper without really pushing them away. He also let Piper get away with running from him without ever knowing exactly what had happened. I understood part of that as the story unfolded, but why did it take him two years to finally try and get her back? He could have easily reached out to her before then or made an effort, and that just didn't seem to fit with his personality and claims to have loved her forever. Especially if he was so hung up on Piper as to have never been able to move on with other women.

While I thought that these two had chemistry and a bond forged through years of friendship, I also felt like there were some inconsistencies in the story regarding their relationship throughout the years. At some points it was stated that Tanner would torment Piper when they were younger, yet then it would be stated that he was also the one that would protect her and was the one she would turn to for a safe haven. It just didn't fit, and without seeing their childhood I was left a bit confused. I think part of my problem was that this story was told only from Piper's POV, so we were left wondering what was really going on in Tanner's head. I also felt like Piper's brother had really affected their relationship and he was such a jerk. He really pissed me off, and I couldn't believe everything that he pulled in this story. For him to have done the things that he did and have to be forced by others around him to ever do the right thing really bothered me. Brad needed to grow up and I really wanted to hit him. For me, the huge secret wasn't as big of a deal as it was made out to be and I thought that Piper overreacted. A lot of the blame for this is on her, though I do believe that others had a part in it as well. I just felt like this story took some turns that I couldn't really get behind. While I liked Piper and Tanner together, I felt like a lot of the angst and drama was a bit over the top. These two should have been able to talk and explain things to each other, and neither of them did until it was years after the face. While I like Michelle Lynn's books, I have to say this one wasn't my favorite. I will still read more from her in the future, but this one wasn't what I had thought it was going to be going in.
