Product Description

Pyromania is an impulse control disorder in which individuals repeatedly fail to resist impulses to deliberately start fires, in order to relieve tension or for instant gratification.

Damon DeLuca, or Luca as they called him. I thought of him more as Damien, the fucking devil within these walls that now is my life. Dark, broody, and deadly to any woman. Mind-blowing, soul-shaking, raw sex appeal. He was a tall statured boy with broad shoulders and a pair of green eyes that set my soul on fire. His inky black hair framed his hard, chiseled features. He had the type of body that had no business being on a seventeen-year-old. I knew that once he fully developed, he'd be nothing short of drop-dead gorgeous. As I said...deadly on the eyes...and dangerous for your heart.
My name is Allison. I met Luca through an unfortunate event when we were younger. I’m now twenty-four, and this is my story. My fucked up life. It's not a pretty one. Then again, the most interesting ones aren't...are they? This isn't your usual love story. Anything but. There are no blue skies, rainbows, or unicorns. Only him...my own personal arsonist. He had the ability to set my panties on fire, leave my body smoldering, and turn my heart into burning embers. He scared the hell out of me, made me feel. He opened my eyes to the world of twisted love. But love no less. This
scary, beautiful man stole my heart from a young, tender age and refused to give it back. Here’s our story…
This story is deep, dark, and deals with real scars and growth because of them.

HASH(0xa1aef150) out of 5 stars Need more to the story. April 6 2015
By DragonflyReads - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I was so looking forward to reading and reviewing Luca. I've been waiting for months since Gina first announced it and I loved her books Saving Abel and Forgiving Gia. With that being said, Luca was severely lacking in my eyes. I truly couldn't connect with Allison and Luca's characters and I'm still confused as to why that is.

"My name is Allison. And this is my story. It's not a pretty one. Then again, the most interesting ones aren't...are they? This isn't your usual love story. There are no blue skies, rainbows, or unicorns. Only him...my own person fire-starter."

Allison and Luca meet in a rehab/treatment facility as teenagers. There is an insta-love/attraction vibe going on for both of them. Allison is recovering from a sexual trauma and Luca is trying to overcome pyromania. There's not much as far as therapy for the issues they're experiencing. I guess I was looking for more of their back stories. Why is Luca a pyromaniac? Why did Allison's parents send her to a treatment facility? She's known as the "emo girl" but I feel like we need more about her.

"She grounded me. Took the breath out of me. She is my light. My spark. The need to be her sentinel...her guardian...her everything was suffocating."

Seven years later, in part two, Luca and Allison haven't seen each other since treatment. They've never gotten over their love for one another but she's trying to move on and Luca is determined to find his way back to her. They find each other and all is well. Insta-happiness. At 94%, I knew something was going to happen and it did. The ending felt completely rushed and not well thought-out. The book ended with me longing for more of this story. I'm sure it will have another installment, at least I hope so but there was no "to be continued..." to be seen.

I really hope Gina gives us more of the story besides Oliver's (Allison's best friend) book. Luca and Allison need more and how it ended did not sit well with me at all. I also feel that Luca could have gone through another thorough edit since there were many grammatical and spelling mistakes. I'm not giving up on Gina's books. I still want to read more of Abel and Gia's story whenever that may come.

HASH(0xa377cb94) out of 5 stars A burning take of passion and obsession April 6 2015
By Emma - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Luca is book 1 in the new I Love the Way You Lie series by Gina Whitney. Its a tricky one to review without spoilers so let me say it's thrilling, passionate, dangerous and full of twists and turns to the very last page!! In true Gina style your left out of breath and open mouthed at THAT ENDING!!!

Damon DeLuca - Luca and Allison first meet at 17 at a health programme facility for people who've experienced trauma, abuse or addictions. Allison Anderson suffered a trauma due to a shocking betrayal and has been left desolate, depressed and unfeeling and Luca is a pyro; he loves the power and control the fire gives him, when he set fire to something close to home his family sent him their to sort himself out. When these two meet they positively sizzle and burn, fanning the flames of passion until they can't deny their attraction anymore: one good, moral girl and one corrupt, unforgiving, family serving Made man. When his family demand his services he has no option but to fulfil his obligations leaving Allison alone and unknowing why he left. She's forever left an indelible mark on him as he's done to her. Fortunately, she's got focus now and has made more than one friend in the facility but his presence in her life leaves a lasting impression.

Seven years later and they reconnect. It's not as unplanned and unexpected as Allison assumed and things are not always as they seem with Luca. He's doing his best to shake his family ties but the best laid plans don't always go to plan, his constant is Archer and together their quite a dynamic partnership offering each other support in a world that full of deceit and danger. Allison is now a social worker and with the help of Melissa and Oliver is becoming a stronger woman, but all it takes is one chance meeting with Luca for her world to be changed irrevocably again....

I adore Gina's writing style that takes you into her character's psyche and feel what they do, and with Allison and Luca each having Pov's it's a disturbing place to be at times!! I am waiting here impatiently for Oliver as I need to know now what happens next.

HASH(0xa2189c84) out of 5 stars Fire-starter...Heart-restorer...heart-destroyer April 6 2015
By The Fairest of All Book Reviews - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Deadly on the eyes…dangerous on the heart

That’s the perfect description of Damon Luca – the man who is a fire-starter in more ways than one. He may be a pyromaniac who gets off on causing damage by setting fire to whatever will go up in flames, but where he does the worst damage is when he sets Allison’s body and heart on fire and then leaves her to smolder the pain and blaze on her own, never fully recovering or mending from the exposure.

Allison and Luca’s story is told in two parts – their first encounters and then their reconnection seven years later – a reconciliation that Luca had been planning since he left her all those years ago.

From the onset, readers can tell that Allison and Luca are truly combustible together…their connection is instantaneous, and they set each other’s bodies on fire from their first interaction. There’s a darkness in both of them that also can’t be denied, but together, they help channel one another’s rage and depression. Despite how much their love burns bright, though, outside forced squelch it and seven years later, they threaten to do it again despite Luca’s obsessive planning.

Luca is not a typical hero; his impulses and rage as well as his criminal father force his hands on numerous occasions. He reacts without thinking and is a bit of a stalker when it comes to Allison, but he also takes the steps that need to happen in order to protect the woman who remade him. There’s much more to Luca than Whitney allows readers to see, and it’s clear that despite his best efforts, he’s bound by familial duty, especially when extenuating circumstances occur. Luca’s a fireball who can blow apart at any time, and with the events that occur at the end of the text, I feel like Luca will become unhinged quite easily.

Betrayal is what forced Allison into the darkened abyss, creating a young woman whose fear and depression rules her life, but Luca sets her mind and body free at least for awhile until she finds herself once again trapped just with a different capturer. Allison is quite a dynamic heroine because her strengths and weaknesses driver he equally and just when it seems like she’s crippled from depression, she finds the determination to carry on, which is what she’s going to need to do, yet again, with all that goes down in the text.

I didn’t know what to expect heading into Luca; I just knew that I love Gina Whitney’s writing style and the way she allows readers to understand her characters and get into their heads with her in-depth character development. In retrospect, I would have liked to have known that it ends in a bit of a cliffy because it would have thwarted by desire, albeit slightly, to throw my iPad across the room when I was finished reading. I’m not happy with Luca right now, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon, but I also know that there’s a reason for everything in the worlds and characters Whitney creates, so I’m just going to have to trust that she’ll enlighten me when it’s time, and I’ll have to accept the circumstances she created.

HASH(0xa1b0dae0) out of 5 stars I..NEED...MORE....LUCA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! April 25 2015
By Bookaholic and More Blog - Published on Amazon.com

Allison has issues that she needs to deal with, but it requires professional help. This is proving to be quiet impossible at the treatment facility when she meets Luca. Luca is dark, mysterious, and has his own struggles to get past. The only thing he wants is Allison, and it seems deep down she wants him too. Together they may be able to face their demons.

It's been 7 years since Allison has seen or heard from Luca. She did the only thing she could do: move on. Allison is now a successful 24 year old working in New York City, but she still feels like Luca is all around her. When a lifelong dream comes true, Allison also get the surprise of a lifetime.

I really enjoyed this story because of how relatable it is. Luca has family history and his own demons that haunt him. Through Gina Whitney's writing, you can feel the push and pull he's facing to live his life in the right direction.

Everyone wants to be with a bad boy, and Allison is no exception. I kept wanting to scream at her until she finally decided to take the chance and be with him. Allison is a vulnerable soul and Luca helps her deal with her past.

When Luca leaves Allison, she didn't let that stop her from living, which is such a change from other books I have read. I loved that she kept on going, to become successful. Once I thought all was well in Allison's life, BOOM a cliffhanger. I really think you will all love this story. While I yelled at the end, I'm now patiently waiting until book 2 comes out!

I would definitely recommend this book!

HASH(0xa25510d8) out of 5 stars Luca the Pyro you want on your side <3 April 6 2015

Dark Erotica is becoming quite popular these days. I have to say I would call this book more of a stepping stone into dark erotica. This is a great book if you want to start light in dark erotica. I have to admit I had no clue which book I would be reviewing only that it was dark erotica. Was surprise to see it was this one. So yay me!

I'm actually surprise this book wasn't nearly as graphic as Gina Whitney's other books are. This one seems a tad more mild than her others when it comes to hot very graphic sex scenes. Luca is quite a character you easily can like and want him to succeed in beating his inner demons.

Luca himself is quite a character and becomes instantly bonded almost to the emotionally fragile Allison. They literally need each other and Luca makes sure to help ease her pain in rather unconventional methods without her even knowing it ;) They both has some heavy duty emotional baggage.

This does end on a cliffhanger so you may scream wanting more BTW <3

You can beat the price on this book and would highly recommend if you love dark angst and just a fan of the lovely Gina. This is a fast paced book you won't want to put down until the ride is over.
