Product Description

Lullabies lend themselves to woozy re-creations, a sort of endless repetition that flags under the weight of the concept (putting kids to bed for their much-needed sleep) and the lack of weight accorded to the music. You might expect a Disney lullaby collection to be on a par with the most mediocre collections, but this one is really a fine set. The tunes are standard--from the famous "Brahms Lullaby" to "All the Pretty Little Horses"--but they're uniformly excellent and creative, staying within the realm of acoustic music that sounds and feels organic. These are Disney-related tunes, for the most part, so "Stay Awake" is here, as is the whimsical "Sleep, Daddy, Sleep." Musically, the set is varied, steering away from a repetition of instrumentation or delivery. That makes it easily entertaining enough for back-to-back listens, which any parent will be asked for with this collection. --Andrew Bartlett

My four and a half year old has been sleeping in our bed on and off (but definitely more on) for her entire life. We moved into a bigger home a few years ago where she has her own room, and I have been trying my hardest to entice her to want to sleep in it...we tried stickers, letting her choose her bedding and curtains, night lights, laying with her until she falls asleep, etc.
One day I was browsing Amazon and I saw this CD and figured, why not, maybe it will help her fall asleep it's worth a shot at such a low price.
Since the first day she played it (she has a small CD player in her room) she has been in love. The music is both soothing and interesting, some songs are mostly instrumental and some with more singing...but it is so well put-together that it doesn't really sound like "baby music" as much as other children's bedtime CDs I have heard.
Now at bedtime, my daughter gets a story, tucked in, kiss goodnight and a "please turn my music on mama!"...she is now asleep by the third or fourth song without issue. My only complaint is I just wish I had found this sooner!

We received this in '95 for the birth of our 1st child. We ran the tape to death and bought it on CD. It goes everywhere w/ us. Even in a German birthing center playing while I was laboring our 3rd child. It just has the best calming effect. Of course every child has had it's own special time w/ it and it brings everyone together when bonding w/ a new baby. This will be our 4th and final baby to have to go thru this w/. It's the 1st thing I put in my hospital bag!

I first bought this tape in '93 when my daughter was born. It quickly became THE tape we listened to every night as she rocked to sleep. The music arrangements are soft and sweet, but not boring. There is a good variety to the songs, with some having a one instrument accompaniment, while others have a variety of instruments. Mostly I think I like the variety of vocalists, some female and some male; none famous, but they are all very talented and pleasing to the ear. You would think that after hearing the songs almost everyday you might get tired of them, but I found myself singing along instead. It's funny, I got to know and love "La,La,Lu", "Stay Awake", and "Baby Mine" from this tape and I was surprised to later recognize them in "Lady & the Tramp", "Mary Poppins", and "Dumbo". I love the tape so much that when I came across the CD, I bought it so I would have the music on CD just in case anything ever happened to my tape. Also, I didn't hesitate to purchase the similar "Disney Babies Wake-up Songs" which in comparison is just as great! Disney always seems to strive for top quality in all that they do, and this tape does not disappoint. It has become one of our family's classics.

I bought this CD when it was a tape back in 1989. My daughter loved it. Now 15 years later, I am blessed with another child and have searched to find it again.

I got a copy of this on tape and quickly wore it out listening to it with my new baby. I then purchased it on cd. It is worth every penny! The lullaby's are sweet and soothing. I often fall asleep while listening to them myself. The tunes are catchy too and I often find myself singing them around the house. I was happy to have "Baby Mine" on it, since I loved the song in "Dumbo". Now, this does not contain original recordings from the movies themselves, but has revamped songs. They are really worth listening to. I can't say enough good things about it!

When I was little, Mom bought this cd for me. I was constantly listening to it. My brother and I listened to this song at night, and Mom learned how to sing "Baby Mine" and "Golden Slumbers" by heart. She would always sing them to us before we went to sleep. I think this cd is the best lullaby cd because it is perfect and it has various artists. Babies injoy thing cd cause of it's woozy feeling. It makes you happy and it makes us feel aware that Mom and Dad are there for us. It gives a messege when we sleep "pleasent dreams"... and in a way, it does give us nice dreams.
