Product Description

Review

Praise for John Sandford's MAD RIVER:

“The best entry in a stellar series” – Booklist (starred review)

“A high-octane thrill ride. Virgil pulls out all the stops.” – Publishers Weekly

“Wonderfully entertaining” – St. Louis Post-Dispatch

“The greatest strength of Mad River lies in Flowers himself. It’s hard to think of a more balanced and genial investigative hero, yet he’s still able to keep cops and bad guys alike in line. The killers’ motivations and dynamic remain riveting until the final pages.” – Shelf Awareness

“There are few events more welcome in the literary world than the appearance of another John Sandford book. Mad River is shot through with dark humor from all sides [and] the violence that is the driving force of the book ratchets up the suspense to an almost excruciating degree.” – Bookreporter.com

About the Author

Well folks if you want an excellent yarn for a rainy day this is it. I bought it 2 weeks ago and nearly finished it in the same day I started to read it! Had to space it out. The plot is very familiar and we have seen it unfolding in the news, far too many times unfortunately, Virgil Flowers is his usual self, getting involved with yarious females. Davenport is there to support him along with a varied cast of characters, all in all a very good read which I highly recommend to everyone.

By Robert P. Brown TOP 1000 REVIEWER on July 26 2014
Format: Paperback
is an investigator for the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) in Minnesota, reporting to Lucas Davenport, the protagonist of Sandford's "Prey" books. The two series are therefore interrelated, sort of country cop, city cop.

In this, the sixth installment, Flowers is involved in tracking down a young couple who are on a killing spree in rural Minnesota. (Remember the movie Badlands?) The first two thirds of the book follows the killers attempts to get away and the police procedures to catch them. The plot then takes an interesting turn, leading to an unusual conclusion.

Sandford is a very good writer, there is some humor and snappy dialogue; overall entertaining and a good way to while away a summer weekend.

Another solid outing by Sandford and his hip detective, Virgil Flowers. Three young trailer trash go on a killing spree and Flowers chases them down. Sandford's cops succeed through clever police work, perseverance and a bit of luck, making his books entertaining and believable. Mad River continues the tradition.

Have read all the Virgil Flowers books and quite enjoyed them. They are light, have some fun in them and different kinds of plots (not just gruesome murders). Would get again if new ones are written.

Always an exciting read.
I own most of his books and have enjoyed every one.
Difficult to put down. The only problem is I read his books in two days, then wish there was more.
