A good quarter of the recipes are for desserts. I don't know about you, but I'm not usually pulling out the flour and mixer to make dessert as company arrives. I'd say MOST desserts ARE make ahead, including cookies. Other categories include cocktails, breakfast, lunch, dinner and appetizers - 7 to 8 recipes in each section. Standard sections on food safety and freezing foods are included; this info found easily on the internet.
Three stars for lovely photos, pretty cover and nice layout.
Deducted stars for some either odd or ho-hum recipes (chicken stock, winter slaw, brownies, cookies) .
Ina Garten remarked, in the very first paragraph, that she asked her assistant what questions people were writing to her about.
I think Ina should start reading her own mail, and perhaps think a bit more about each new book idea now. She kind of missed the mark on this one.
Just tonight I made her 'Sour Cream Corn Bread'.
Followed her recipe Fastidiously
Out of the Oven it looks great .
However it tastes Awful ! period.
A Greasy Salt lick masquerading as a Bread. Genuinely unpleasant/inedible
The 3/4 cup of Sour cream AND a Half pound of unsalted butter Ensures a Grease pudding melange.
The Woman has some unnatural addiction to Salt.. this recipe calls for 1 TABLESPOON.. At least 4 X! a Sane amount.

My opinion: Avoid this book at all costs
