HASH(0x9a65475c) out of 5 stars True to the ACTUAL novel April 21 2011

This graphic novel is one of the few adaptations I've seen that is actually faithful to the book. It is heartening to finally find that someone cares enough to be true to Dumas' story. The last one I've seen is the "Classics Illustrated" comic book.

The Leonardo DiCarprio movie is a travesty, on so many levels, for anyone who loves "The Man in the Iron Mask." I've looked at many film versions, and none of them match the deference to the original text as this graphic novel does.

If you want to experience this classic story in a colorful, graphic medium, I unreservedly recommend this.

Thank you, Marvel and Roy Thomas, for providing me with this quality addition to my Dumas shelf.
HASH(0x9f40e1ec) out of 5 stars Capable version of great story in MARVEL style. Some characters get lost in the art but the initial story is a SOLID! Dec 26 2015

The Man in the Iron Mask is SUCH a great story, that it would be SOME EFFORT to screw it up. That being said, I did enjoy this MARVEL edition from the Marvel Illustrated, but at points it seemed to drag. The artwork is well done, but because of the limited wardrobe of the time, many of the characters tended to blend into each other. Having know the story ahead of time, I was able to get through it, but I could see where some readers might get lost. I have a number of the other MARVEL Illustrated stories, so this was a welcome addition.

This book is very well illustrated and follows the story of 'The Three Musketeers' quite well. It is the first in a set of books.
