I’m way too much Big Bad Wolf for you to handle. She had poked the Big Bad Wolf and she hoped she wouldn’t regret it. WHAT A HOWLING GR-R-R-REAT STORY!!! Now this is EXACTLY the story that Caitlyn needed, that I wanted and Merryn delivered! Oh baby did she ever!! I was horrified at what Caitlyn has been living with for the past 10 years! I don't know how she did it! Thankfully, Mates are the cure! wink You will have to read the book to make sense of that comment, because, yes, I DID say Mates, with an 's'. snicker I love how things played out, not just for Caitlyn & Ven, but with veryone else in the Pack & town, as well. I actually am surprised to say this, but I am glad it wasn't any longer! I'm not sure I could have handled more story! Between my nerves, tears and anticipation, then the wealth of emotion that came with the last part of the book, I was emotionally exhausted! Yes, I was THAT enthralled by in, that consumed by it, mind, body, spirit and soul. I actually found it hard to pull back from the story, thrilled to be part of the Pack, if just for a short while. “He was in Heaven. He was in Hell.” That sums up my feelings too! in Heaven for a new Merryn Dexter book to read. In Hell because I read it the same day I got it, and I now have to wait for the next one!! Good thing I can read these over & over again while I wait.  I fell in love with Merryn & her writing skills with A Mate's Healing Touch, but it has now turned into something more indescribable, more permanent. The way she tells a story, the realness of it, that tangible quality that connects me to the story, to the characters, reaches out and pulls me into the story where I experience it, live it, with and as the characters.Read more ›

I really love to read Black Hills Wolves this is 44 in this series. Each book was written by a different Author of course you know there's a lot of authors writing several stories for this series, that's just what makes it a fantastic series. And #44 is no exception, Ms. Dexter write such a phenomenal story that I felt the Sadness, Anger, Humiliation, Fear then Happiness of Pack, Family and Love.
Ven Thorne is a wolf shifter, that likes to patrol in the northern section of Los Lobos.
He had no clue how long he was in his wolf form but it's been a long time, he didn't want to be around other wolf shifters, they didn't want to be around him, he was so crabby, angry all the time. But then you couldn't blame him he was abused, his parents left him stranded took off without him, he had nowhere to go nothing to eat so is Uncle took him in treating him like dirt. And of course there alway someone in a small town to remind him he was not worth anything for anyone, a no good looser. Caitlyn Burrows who is a twin is a shy, red headed, omega She Wolf Shifter who is scared of her own shadow. Her and her family came back to town 6 months ago, they had left a decade ago because of Drew's father, Magnum Tao, who had run into Caitlyn in the woods, raped her and did terrible things, she still has nightmares and scared to go anywhere even though Alpha Drew told her she's safe. I was gifted this ARC for an honest and truthful review.

This book is a fast pace and very entertaining story. Ven and Caitlyn are mates. But they are also two people who have been abused by the ones who should have protected them. Now will they be able to put the pain and mistrust aside to begin a life together or will old wounds be to much to overcome..

HASH(0x9f96178c) out of 5 stars Two damaged wolves find each other. April 17 2016

I love the Black Hills Wolves series even though at first I wasn't sure how it would possibly work with various authors bringing their viewpoints while trying to be cohesive. I am thrilled that they have managed to give us some very good reads and A Mate's Redeeming Touch by Merryn Dexter is another successful addition to the series. This story is a must read for those who love this series and will be thrilled with this new voice courtesy of Ms. Dexter.

Ven is a foul mouthed, antisocial wolf who had been raised by an abusive uncle. Caitlyn Burrows had been one of the victims of the former alpha of the Tao pack. How could it be possible that fate would make these two mates? That is just what happens and it was very riveting watching these two overcome their pasts and reach for the future.

At first I wasn't sure about this mating, thought fate had made a mistake, then I realized that though he is a brute of a wolf, with Caitlyn he found a softer side he didn't know existed. It was very interesting to see his little mate step up and work on pulling him out of his self imposed isolation and into becoming hers. She has her own problems and nightmares but when she realizes that Ven is her mate she is ready to move forward. I loved the moment when Ven realized that what he has begun to feel is simply his pack's warmth and acceptance. Which of course is just what Drew (the new alpha, who has worked hard to rebuild that pack) wants. I loved the family dynamic and was thrilled that her parents accepted him. I hope her twin gets a chance to have his own book because reading this one I believe he needs a little HEA himself. You will have to read this book to find our why.

If I had one complaint it would be that this story was too short ... I would like to have gotten a bit more of the romance and getting to know each other and just generally enjoying being back in this world. I guess I can hope author Merryn Dexter plans to write a few more of these books and give us more of this intriguing couple.
HASH(0x9f961840) out of 5 stars Great story March 26 2016

I received this for a honest review. I had read the first book in this series and truly enjoyed it.

Caitlyn Burrows had suffered so much and she has lived with the guilt of what had happened to her for a very long time. Her family regret not being able to protect her from the cruel Ex-Alpha Magnum Tao. Since her family relived the pain and guilt every time they look at her it is hard for Caitlyn to truly move on from what had happen. Caitlyn is a Omega and truly feels like the weakest of the bunch.

I truly felt sorry for Caitlyn’s twin Connor. The guilt and pain he was going through knowing he could not protect his twin when she needed him the most. This is truly a mental battle for Connor. I so look forward to seeing what the future books bring for him.

Ven Thorne is the packs enforcer. He wasn’t a type of wolf that pranced around like he was it, he was the total opposite. When he first scented Caitlyn he knew right off the bat she was his mate. He felt so unworthy to have such a prize. He knew Caitlyn’s past and knew she needed patients and understanding. The only problem is when he firsts met her he made her feel unworthy. I almost wished she would of soccer punched him right in the jaw.

I loved Giss. He was a werebear. The things I loved about him the most is he told it like it was. It was almost like he had a special gift for reading people’s minds. He was so attune to his surroundings. I am wondering if we are going to know a little more about him as the series goes on.

Caitlyn will decide to stop being so weak. She starts to work on her healing and does her best to help her mate Ven. I loved reading of the journey of Caitlyn and Ven. This story shows there is healing in true love.
HASH(0x9f961c78) out of 5 stars Another Stellar Black Hills Wolves Novella! March 25 2016
By IslandDeb - Published on Amazon.com

Merryn Dexter delivers a knockout with A Mate’s Redeeming Touch, her second novella for the Black Hills Wolves series! Her debut novella, A Mate’s Healing Touch, was a 5 Star read for me. It encompassed everything a great novella should be; tightly written, well-developed characters all wrapped up in a satisfying short story from start to finish. The chemistry between her characters emanates from the pages in sizzling scenes that solidify the mate bond they are fated for. If I remember correctly, I said: Merryn Dexter has made a significant splash into the author pool. Suffice it to say, this time, Ms. Dexter has done a cannonball of a splash!

After getting a glimpse of Caitlyn Burrows in A Mate’s Healing Touch, I knew hers was the next story I wanted to read. Ten years ago, a brutal attack by the pack’s former Alpha left Caitlyn terrified of men. She sticks close to family and keeps to herself. She wants desperately to fulfill her role as Omega but is paralyzed with consuming guilt that she let her family down by falling victim to Magnum. For ten long years, she’s believed she is the chink in her family’s armor. Marjorie Burrows, on the other hand, thinks it high time her daughter let go of the past and find her mate. Mama wolves know best, even though the road she sends Caitlyn on is one challenge after another. It seems her true mate is one very hunky Native American with long dark hair, black eyes and a delicious scent. Unfortunately, even though he recognizes her as his mate, he wants nothing to do with Caitlyn. His very poor manners and nasty attitude should have sent her scrambling, but Caitlyn’s wolf has decided otherwise.

Ven Thorne suffered his own abuse at the hands of his no-good uncle. Ven learned early on that family, the ones you should be able to count on, are just as apt to let you down as everyone else. And that the only way to survive is to keep the bastards in life away by becoming the meanest one of them all. Ven has remained in his wolf form too long and is called out by the Enforcer of the pack to straighten up or else. His new job is to refurbish the gas station just outside of town and keep an eye out for possible trouble. The only trouble he sees is Caitlyn Burrows. When she shows up Ven’s wolf recognizes her as their mate and will stop at nothing to get her.

I loved seeing Caitlyn transform from the scared rabbit into the Omega wolf and take charge of her life. To say Ven has a sharp personality is putting it mildly. His bad attitude is the mother of all bad attitudes! He’s rude and dismissive to Caitlyn. When his wolf demands he claim her, Ven fights tooth and nail against it. His reasoning...he isn’t good enough for the sweet, beautiful, sexy Omega. And yet, he can’t stay away. Ven’s wolf criticizes him for being a jerk, demanding he calms and soothe their mate. And once he eases into the role he was destined to play, he finds he wants nothing more than to protect and care for his “little Red”.

Their road to bliss is riddled with potholes as Ven puts one paw forward for every two backward. Caitlyn decides to pull out all the stops, wearing sweet and sexy sundresses, reading hot romance novels in front of him, and letting him take whatever time he needs to come to his senses. Personally, I would have clobbered him over the head more than once.

Ms. Dexter’s writing is absolutely wonderful! Her way with words puts you smack dab in the story. The pace is fast, the sex is hot, and the story compelling. Every emotion her characters experience is real and true to life in such a way they float off the page and sink into you as you read. A Mate’s Redeeming Touch is a stellar addition to the Black Hills Wolves series you won’t want to miss!

HASH(0x9f963138) out of 5 stars Two broken souls find redemption... March 25 2016
By Elizabeth E Neal - Published on Amazon.com

**4 out of 5 Hearts from Cariad Books**

Ven, a lone wolf that prefers to remain in wolf form, is being reassigned and will be working for Ryker, the Pack Enforcer. Ven, not the sociable sort, still struggles due to a difficult childhood.

Caitlyn, a victim of the former Alpha, Magnus, is returning to Los Lobos with her family due to her brother, Caleb's, recent mating to Hannah. Caitlyn, because of Magnus and his evilness, is terrified of men.

Fate steps in and brings these two troubled souls together, knowing they need each other to heal and find their HEA, which doesn't seem like a possibility thanks to the first, and second, impression Ven made. In his defense though, he knows he reacted badly, but feels she deserves a whole mate, not a damaged one. Hmmm...Caitlyn feels the same way about herself and that Ven deserves more.

It seems fate thought these two completely opposite personalities would be perfect for each other. Ven, not a people person on a good day, honed his snarly attitude as a defensive mechanism. Caitlyn however, an Omega by nature, is submissive and happy helping others.

Will Ven embrace his chance at happiness with Caitlyn or push her away, thinking she deserves better? Will Caitlyn fight for her mate, for the life they could have together? Will Caitlyn, and her family, let go of what happened to her ten years ago, helping her to start healing? Will Caitlyn start living again? As Caitlyn starts facing her past figuratively, what happens when Ven is confronted with his past literally?

One-click now and find out. Please keep in mind this book is part of a series and previous characters are continually referred to and are a part of each subsequent story. However, I do feel each author does a good job of ensuring their contribution to the series provides enough of the necessary information so you aren't lost if you haven't read from the beginning.
