Product description
This plush, 16 inch thick mattress comes with four layers that work together to bring you optimal comfort in your sleep. The first layer is a 1 inch bamboo charcoal memory foam layer sewn into the soft outer cover. Bamboo charcoal is especially good for sensitive skin and has better thermal regulation. This layer can be removed by taking off the mattress cover. Directly beneath that is a 3 inch layer featuring our softer and lighter memory foam, ventilated for breathability and comfort. Beneath that is a 2 inch comfort layer of natural latex. Resilient latex pairs well with memory foam because its instantaneous give will better support to your body. The combination of latex and memory foam provides optimal orthopedic support and pressure relief to help alleviate neck, back and shoulder pain. We used open-cell memory foam construction to create a longer lasting, more resilient foam that will not leave long-lasting body impressions. Made of a cozy TENCEL blend fabric (10 percent TENCEL lyocell, 90 percent polyester), the soft cover creates a breathable air layer at the top of the mattress. LUCID memory foam and latex is naturally resistant to allergens and dust mites. The foam in this product is CertiPUR-US certified which means it has been independently tested for safety of materials used, physical performance, and environmental stewardship. Careful construction guarantees no prohibited phthalates, no ozone depleters, no CFCs, no mercury, no formaldehyde, no PBDEs, and low emission (VOCs) for indoor air quality. This mattress will come vacuum packed. After your mattress arrives, simply take the package into the right room, remove it from the box and protective wrap, and then watch as it expands to its original shape.

The matress: It was stiffer at first but has gotten softer over time. Motion transfer is almost nonexistent. It's stiff enough that you don't get stuck in it. Edge support is not there so don't sleep right on the edge and you will be fine. It's winter here so we haven't had a problem with it sleeping hotter yet. Very comfortable.
Sleep: I sleep a lot deeper. I seem to require less sleep now. I wakeup without stiffness or feeling tired. I wish I bought this year's ago.
Other activities: It's a fun matress. It has a little bit of bounce to it. And because you sink into it, it gives you something to push off of.
We have only had it for 3 weeks. So my opinion might change. But so far, it's the best matress we have ever owned. I have spent a lot more on a top end matress. So far this one is my favorite
It is quite soft yet very supportive it is good height but if i where to order another i would go with a 12" or 14" although mine only really expanded to 15 inches.
I was worried about heat as generally i don't sleep well warm and it was a hot day yesterday (32 +) so i tried only sleeping with a top sheet, the only time i woke up was because i was cold and had to find a blanket.
Its amazing how i woke in pretty much the same spot and position that i fell asleep in.
another reviewer mentioned that the mattress did not fully fill the cover i am seeing similar in the center on one side of the mattress along the edge. Its minimal and does not affect the comfort.
The top of the cover is quite green (but i like green) it is quite soft and it is a shame to have use a fitted sheet about that..get one that says it will fit up to and 18" mattress because its tight to get it down and under.
The box came pretty beat up and its heavy definitely a 2 person job to get it upstairs. The box was quite dirty and i will have to steam clean my stairs to get rid of the dirt.
My only real gripe about the mattress is the lack of handles, every mattress should have at least 2 handles sewn to the cover on the long sides and 1 on each short side. At very minimum 2 handles on each long side. unfortunately this mattress has absolutely zero handles.
I will try to remember to update this review a month from now then 3 months from now and after a year then again upon its failure.
1 month update :
I am finding that It's actually quite warm I wake up about 5-6 times a night because of it. Kinda wishing I got a cooling gel one... We will see how it goes.
This is a disposable product. Perhaps good for a guest room but not for everyday use.

First, I took my husband to a regular mattress store because I wanted him to be aware of what he was getting into. He doesn’t like change, and I wanted to warm him to the idea before I committed. We tested every foam mattresses in the store and I preferred the super soft plush ones, but the salesman told my husband, who has back problems, he needed a firmer mattress or he would destroy his back. After we left I told him that based on what the internet said the Lucid would be comparable to the firmer mid-level plush.
So I decided to trust the strangers of the internet. Maybe I needed a little faith in humanity right now. Plus, I got it for such an amazing deal I had enough left over to get all the towels nobody bought from our registry.
The mattress arrived with lightning speed. Honestly I’m tempted to suspect they saw my IP address had looked at this page so many times they shipped it to a nearby warehouse in anticipation of my purchase. The UPS guy did not want to bring it up the steps to our front door. Luckily my husband was home to help him. How my husband managed to get it up to the second floor of our townhome all by himself is going to remain one of the many unsolved mysteries of our marriage.
The accompanying Zinus frame took an extra two days to arrive. My husband was wary about putting a foam mattress on an openly slotted frame, so I said some of the reviewers over there mentioned cutting up the cardboard box it came in and using that as a bridge between the two. So we did that, and then unwrapped the mattress. Immediately it started to puff up and my husband pressed his hand on it. He looked at me with scornful dread. “This is going to be too soft for me, hon,” he echoed the mattress salesman’s warning. “Don’t worry,” I said, trying not to show my panic. “The internet said it’s the perfect combination between plush and firm. Some people say it’s too firm. Nobody ever says it’s too plush!”
We slept on it that first night because others had said they’d done so too. Besides, we’d already dropped the old queen pillowtop to the curb and it was commandeered within minutes by a local homeless guy whom we had no intention of trying to wrestle it back from. And I didn’t sleep a wink. I tossed and turned, worried that my husband wasn’t sleeping and would demand I send it back. The internet said returns weren’t a hassle, but this thing was a damn beast. I couldn’t see how it could possibly go back.
That, and it was actually firmer at first than I’d hoped. I’m a side sleeper, and that first night reminded me of the night we’d spent in an Airbnb in Temecula where I legit thought the owner had gotten a trampoline instead of a mattress to cut costs. But I was determined not to worry. It would adjust, the internet had assured me. It wasn’t done puffing up yet.
I came home from work the next day, exhausted, and I attempted the bed once again. It still crunched and cricked my side. So I flipped onto my back. Only then did I have my “aha” moment. It was softer when I lay prone with my weight evenly distributed. It cradled me and finally I discovered that perfect combination of soft and firm. It has since puffed up more, and side sleeping is comfortable again too.
The mattress does get a bit warmer than I expected. It could be just adjusting from pillowtop to foam takes time. Or it could be that it’s been in the 90’s here (in November) because, you know, global warming. But the huge advantage is: when my husband tosses and turns he launches his full weight into the air and back down again like he’s wrestling a python in his sleep, or recreating that scene from “Big” where Tom Hanks bounces onto his bunk bed. So I happily trade being a little toasty to no longer have to even be aware of that nighttime nonsense. Also, in our old bed he would pull ALL the covers off me and tent them around himself because clearly his subconscious puts my comfort at a distant second to his own – but he hasn’t been doing that in this bed, at least so far. Perhaps his subconscious is finally warm enough to satiate his self-protective instincts.
Long story short, I really like this mattress a lot. Soft meets firm and has an affordable baby. The beast can stay. And now we can never move.
Thanks internet for restoring my faith in the goodness and honesty of strangers.
***update after 7 months***
Just came back to update everyone that I still LOVE this mattress so much. Once you get used to it, you don't go back. I am now a certifiable bed snob and now whenever we stay somewhere else I can't wait to get home to it. Never before have I known the joy of sleeping through the entire night without being awakened once by a sleep-jousting partner. Thanks Lucid, now I never want to go on vacation again.
Buying- click a button, anxiously follow all the shipping updates because you're like a kid on christmas (but for adults)
Arrival- this mattress comes sucked down flat in a plastic casing, then rolled and stuffed in a box. We bought the queen size. I'm 5'6" and the box came to my shoulders. It's also EXTREMELY heavy. 120+ pounds. Apparently there was an issue with my box because (unbeknownst to my delivery men) I watched the 2 guys haul it off the truck (grumbling about the weight), then speeding up the driveway because the packaging was coming apart and they wanted to get as close as possible before all hell broke loose. They (thankfully) grabbed some strapping tape and fixed up the box (all the while complaining about how heavy it was and how they just now saw the sign on the box that said they were supposed to use a lift for it).
Unpacking- Once they were gone and I'd finished chuckling at their antics, I texted my husband that I wouldn't be able to get it inside because the two dudes barely moved it. But then I saw the weather forecast and we were supposed to get rain before he could make it home. Decision time- try to get it inside before it gets soaked, or find something to cover it up and hope it doesn't get wet? I thought to myself, "I'm a strong capable woman. I've got this". Well I did "have this", sort of. The thing is big, and heavy, and doesn't like to slide on brick pavers. But if you lift it end over end you can move it fairly well (just lift with your legs and get some quad/core action going). Once on the carpet I was able to do the side to side rotation thing to get it into the bedroom. Now here's the important part. Before you cut any of the plastic, make CERTAIN you have everything ready and it's turned the right way (as in top will actually be on top). I had read a few reviews that mentioned this, and thought I had it right....I was so wrong. Once you snip that plastic, the whole thing unfurls and begins to puff up. Seems harmless. It is anything but. The top was on the bottom. Just flip it over, you say. How hard can it be, you say. MF HARD! I swear it gained weight as quickly as I do after hitting two Thanksgiving dinners in a day. And it has nothing stiff in it anywhere like normal mattresses that you can use to get a grip and shift it. I ended up having to prop it up on my head and shoulders and trying to drag it towards me so I could finally flip it over. I took out a lamp and bedside stand in the process (a small price to pay to save my back). The instructions said to let it fully puff up for up to 48 hours. Whaaatt?? You mean I can't sleep on my fabulous-pain-reducing-holy-grail-of-a-mattress tonight? *shifty eyes* Or so they say.... I slammed open all the windows in the room, turned on a few fans directed at the bed and hoped this would increase the puff power. The open windows, fans, and air purifier going in the corner definitely helped with the smell (moderately strong chemical odor). I don't know if it quickend the fluff process, but in a few hours it measured about 14" and I called that success. We threw on sheets and climbed in for the first time.
First Night- Let me reiterate- O.M.G. The top responsive layer lets you sink into cloudy goodness almost instantaneously. But then the middle and bottom support layers step up to the plate and cradle your body to keep you from feeling like you're being swallowed up by an inanimate object. My husband can twitch around on his side as much as he wants and I only feel a slight wiggle on my side. I can actually sleep on my back without my lumbar region screaming at me in agony. I can sleep on my side without my shoulders and knees rebelling. Not as great for sleeping on my stomach (but the docs said that was wrong anyway, who knew?!). Even my husband had to admit it felt good. I slept more soundly that night than I ever have. I woke up almost refreshed (it'll take a lot more than one night to fix that issue), and not as sore as I usually am.
After the First Night- Mattress is still awesome 5 months out. We bought a waterproof pad because my husband sweats like a fiend and I didn't want our mattress to resemble a used kitchen sponge. You'll definitely want to buy sheets with DEEEEP pockets, normal ones don't come close to fitting (or I suppose you could buy a size up, but I haven't tried this). All of our friends have been made to try out the mattress and they all agree it's like heaven for your body.
Conclusion- Give this mattress a try. It's helped with my sleep, my pain, my marriage (because I'm not constantly thwacking him in the night to get him to stop jumping around). Just be sure to have muscles on tap to get it unloaded, and watch your orientation/direction when opening the plastic.
So I've had this for a little over a month now and I'm very happy with it!
My boyfriend and I sleep on this. I'm 5'1 - 250lbs, he's 6'3 240 lbs. It works for both of us. We both usually sleep on our sides, but occasionally our backs and it works for both. It feels relatively cool compared to some of the other memory foam mattresses I've slept on--but it is still slightly hotter than my old spring mattress. I got some Tencel sheets to go with it (Tencel/bamboo sheets help stay cool) and we sleep with the ceiling fan on so it's works out to be perfectly comfortable.
You will need another person to help you get this thing set up-- even if you're really strong (this thing is heavy!), it's just big and awkward to move alone, and there are little nubs on the bottom of the mattress that make it hard to just scoot around. It unrolls upside down, so my suggestion would be to flip it over, move it where you want it, and -then- unwrap it. It expanded very quickly for us, within minutes it seemed. The smell took a few days to really go away, but we slept on it anyways because our old bed was falling apart, and it didn't seem to hurt anything (aside from our noses).
Edge support is great, I put my socks on at the foot of the bed and I haven't rolled out of it or anything. We put ours directly on the floor. With 16 inches it's high enough, and we can save money up for a platform base eventually. I don't think slats would do so great, this thing is super heavy.
I looked up similar latex/foam combinations at the store and it's like 3k-4k...no thanks!
This is a regular review, I didn't get a discount or any kind of perk for reviewing.
