However, you have to be careful with the calorie counts/nutrition info - leafing through, I've already spotted one recipe that's drastically off (it says it serves 2, but the calorie count only makes sense if it serves 4). I think I'll double-check the numbers on other recipes before I use them.
I also find the recipes overestimate how many people they serve... maybe as side dishes, but definitely not as a full meal. This is fine for salads and soups of course, but for casseroles or stovetop suppers, one tends to assume the recipe is at least the main feature or indeed a standalone. One pasta shell casserole recipe claims to serve 6 people with 16 shells... that's 2.6 shells per person (and how are you supposed to divide up stuffed shells for serving? Not exactly a nice presentation). Certainly not enough as a full meal - even scant as a side. Basically, take the information beyond the recipe itself as a very vague estimate and just use the recipes themselves for good places to start.
Well lo and behold, my first week with this book and every meal I made was from inside its pages. I am a very beginner chef and sometimes feel overwhelmed looking at recipes where I don't feel confident I'll be able to pull it off. That was never the case with Meatless. The recipes were mostly easy to make and were all extremely delicious.
I highly recommend this for meat eaters and vegetarians alike! Good food is good food, and that's what you will find in these pages.
